People accuse me of being a 21st century OH SUSANNA. I am not from Alabama, but I wander the globe with a laptop on my knee.
I am American, but I live in France. I have been been a college professor, a fashion model, a journalist, an interpreter, a novelist, a fireworks salesperson, director of a Parisian Couture boutique, an elevator operator, a shoe salesperson, a single mother and a simultaneous translator. Best thing I ever did was write books.
I have mostly lived in Paris my whole adult life. I have two grown children who were born in Paris. One lives in Los Angeles. One lives in Paris.
By 1970, I had tired of teaching, modeling and translating. So I began writing articles for women's magazines. My first article appeared in Cosmopolitan in 1971. Then, in 1973, I wrote a novel called Ladyfingers. It was published by a big New York publisher. I was proud and pleased to actually be able to earn a living being "a writer". I wanted to go on writing stories, but my literary agent decided I should write non fiction. I balked at first. But when I did she said, "Novels are risky. They might sell. They might not. If you only write novels, your children will starve."
She gave me a choice between Cooking and Astrology. I chose the latter, providing I could write about Chinese Astrology - the animal signs. By 1975 I had published my first book about Chinese Astrology. By now, I have written four best-selling books about Chinese and western Astrology. My readers have dubbed me "The High Priestess". That is flattering. I love email and I adore being on Facebook and Twitter where I can actually talk to readers one on one. I'm a professional astrologer/card reader and have been for 20 years. I read this book when it first came out and slowly integrated a tiny bit of its info into my readings. Now, 15 years later, I begin every reading with "What is your date of birth?" When my client says August, 1960 and then tells me her boyfriend was born in February, 1954 I know instantly that she's a Rat and he's a Horse, two of the most incompatible signs ever to lay thier heads on the same pillow. And when Ms. Rat goes on to describe how selfish Mr. Horse is and tells me how she lays awake at night chewing her nails because he borrowed her car and her insurance bill is two days late, well. . . I can help her see that it isn't him or her, it's the connection. Because of what I've learned from this book, I know to steer her toward an easier, less stressful alliance with an equally nervous Monkey or a powerful, protective Dragon. It is nothing less than a FACT that Suzanne White SINGLE HANDEDLY popularized Chinese Astrology in America. Other authors (90% of whom made it to the bookshelf in her wake) may describe the topic in more depth, but they certainly haven't made Chinese Astrology easier to understand nor have they made it easier to apply to life. I know. I've read every book published on the subject and there is none better than Suzanne White's glorious, orginal, powerful New Astrology. Buy it and grow wiser.

This really is the only astrology book you will ever need. I would give it a 10 out of 10 with all other books falling to a 5 or below in accuracy. I read my mother's horoscope to her and her hair seemed to go straight up in the air. After reading a couple to my brother, he went around goggled-eyed for several days. This woman must have a crystal ball! It's weird. She states that I never get out of the house. Not true! I did about a week ago. She says that I have a self-deprecatory sense of humor! NOT TRUE! (lol, huccup, grimace, brb). It is so weird that this is not really an astrology book. It's more a book of Unknown Facts. If you are a kreep like myself, you will want to buy it and get the "goods" on everybody. Just don't look at yours! Mine said I could be vicious at times! Not True. Only when I write reviews for Amazon.com. Buy the book if you want the goods on EVERYBODY. Then hide it somewhere. Good luck. You will need it.

for years i thot this book was alright, but then i discovered that it has serious errors - out of the 12 chinese signs, she has 6 identified as either YIN or YANG, but they're incorrect.....here are the corrections:
RAT is YANG, not YIN, as the book states
SNAKE is YIN, not YANG
GOAT is YIN, not YANG
MONKEY is YANG, not YIN
ROOSTER is YIN, not YANG
DOG is YANG, not YIN
just FYI! how SW gets published, i don't understand....
