Together Again, April 9, 2010
This review is from: New Avengers: The Reunion TPB (Paperback)
At the end of Secret Invasion most people were dying to find out how "the reunion" between these two characters would play out. This series could have easily just felt like fan service or some cheap wasted off shoot title made for money and that alone.
McCann instead gives us what we wanted. An entertaining story that could have been just as enjoyable without the Secret Invasion lead in.
This is the point in comic reviews where the reviewer would go on for longer about the script and at the end say "oh, and how could you forget the art?!" I'm not going to wait. David Lopez's pencils work perfectly with the tension of the reunited former husband and wife. The art is all around spectacular.
Best thing about this book is that you could read it without a whole lot of knowledge of the two main characters. you didn't have to even read SI, and they are clearly not just trying to get you to start reading the upcoming on-going. It's a great book to read, enjoy, and be done with H&M.
But with McCann and Lopez re-teaming for the ongoing, why would you?
