FIRR-Kids! Review,
This review is from: The New Baby's Baby Journal (Spiral-bound)
If you are anything like me, you want to be the guest at the baby shower that shows up with the *good* gift. You secretly want the others to admire your present and covet your good taste. Baby showers are typically an avalanche of tiny clothing and battery-operated toys. This baby journal is a gift that will stand out from the crowd, and still be appreciated twenty years down the road.New parents need to write down the baby milestones because the first year is just one big sleep-deprived blur. This particular journal is ideal because it provides all the necessary creativity. The only thing new moms should be creative about is where their next nap is taking place. Answer the journal's cute questions, affix photos where indicated and voila! - an adorable summation of baby's young life. On a practical note, photo corners are included, as well as a small pocket for the first haircut, and a larger pocket at the back for mementos. There is also plenty of blank lines provided for parents to jot down their own thoughts. The journal is an updated version of the traditional baby book, but with more fun stuff. Name? Check. What we almost named you? Funny. Expecting parents can get right to work on completing The Family Tree and Waiting for Baby sections. These include a space for the shower invitation and a pregnancy photo, and queries such as "Nickname before you were born." All the traditional "first" pages are there, plus a few more just for fun. Overall, this is a well done journal that would make an excellent gift for any new parent.

I really liked this baby journal. It is fun and a more trendy take on the traditional baby journals. One complaint I have is that they have too many pages devoted to the baby log, but I just used them as scrapbooking pages and pasted other things over them.

The pictures and ideas of this book are really cute. It's a good size, comes with photo corner stickers to attach your photos and gives a decent amount of space to write in. The only draw back is that it is definitely geared towards people having hospital births. I'm sure they could come up with more generalized terms for the birth/early days of life section. As I've said, other than that, it is a really cute baby journal.

Great Contemporary Baby Journal,

This is a great contemporary baby journal. I enjoy the fun spin that it includes with it's leading questions and illustrations. My major motivation for purchasing this particular journal is that it included just the right amount and type of questions. It did not ask those sappy lead questions such as, 'what did I want to be when I grew up?' and others that I would have left blank, but it asked enough about your prenatal doctor visits, baby showers, when you felt the first kick, etc. If there is more information that I wanted to provide, I've simply added it where I felt it fit.One downside is that there is a lot of publisher info on the cover (more than shown in the picture here). I've purchased scrapbooking stickers to personalize/cover their irrelevant add-ons. Also, half the pages are blank pages to track weekly progression of the baby after it is born. It's a little overdone, but this actually gives you several pages to 'make it your own' if wanted to do a little custom scrapbooking if the book fell short on some places.

The graphics are really cute, but this journal focuses mostly on the time after the new arrival shows up. It's got about a year's worth of week-by-week pages. So if you want to document each week, this is the book for you. It only has 5 or so pages on the pregnancy.

This is a wonderful baby journal for parents who have a sense of humor and want to both be able to contribute to the baby book without all the gendered mother-centered stuff. We have already started filling this book out and baby is due in a couple months. Most of the pages are for after baby is born, but there are two pages for both sides of the family tree, with "mommy/daddy" options to circle - so if you are two women or two men having a baby, this could work for you too. There are a few pages about being pregnant and prenatal appointments, so it isn't perfect for adopting. There is a space for baby shower stuff too, but there is no assumption that it is a female only shower, which I appreciate immensely. There are fun multiple-choice questions which give you a giggle, places for pictures and keepsakes (baby's hair after first haircut, etc.) and lots of great prompts that will get you thinking about all the things you are going to do with your child. My husband and I both really love this fun book.

Hip book!,

I bought this baby book as a recommendation from a friend and I LOVE IT! Its great if you want to stray away from the traditional but has 52 pages just devoted to how many meals per day, how many hours they sleep, their fussy times, milestones, and things they like. Its fun to have but a lot of work to go through and I dont feel that it prompts me to write down things I may miss because Im worried about remembering how many times a day he eats. It has little pockets for mementos such as first hair cut and things so it is really fun!

Too Many Details!,

This review is from: The New Baby's Baby Journal (Spiral-bound)
This book has cute illustrations, but it's a lot of work to keep up with! I actually bought it when my son was already 5 months so there was no way I could remember all of the week-to-week details from the previous 5 months. I prefer a baby book that documents only the major milestones.
