The rocky trails near here tear up my non-trail shoes something fierce. I think the standard lower density EVA utilized in most road shoes is far too soft for rocks and gets cut up pretty badly. I always have my road shoes with me but ALWAYS forget my other trail shoes at home (which are also getting long in the tooth), so I picked up these trail shoes up to just keep in my running bag.

One of the biggest knocks I have against trail running shoes in general is weight and inflexibility. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this shoe suffered neither of those standard traits. Perhaps the minimal-esqueness of this shoe is the reason. It does not have massively thick forefoot eva or a thick clunky sole which allows for a quite a bit of forefoot flexion and less of a cloppy feel. I find this to be a great trade off, not quite minimalist, but not nearly as bulky as a standard cushioning trail shoe either. I find that these shoes are the PERFECT off road mate to my NB 750V1s. They feel almost the same, low and fast. In fact, they actually feel quite a bit cushier using the exactly same powerfeet blue insoles as I use in my 750s. THAT I did not expect at all.

My initial run of 7mi was fantastic. I think overall, if you run on hardpack, crushed gravel, or single track dirt trails these shoes would be a fantastic option for you. However, if you run a lot on larger gravel or rougher exposed rock, I expect the lack of a full rubber sole may not be quite as durable as the new full vibram soled ones. Additionally, I am curious how these would do in wet conditions or if run on the road for any length of time. The sole on this shoe utilizes a number of (around 30) round nubs that vary in size from a dime to a quarter.

I was a little worried about buying shoes online, but I found this was easy. The shoe is very comfortable and feels like a sock. Very nice shoe

I initially bought a pair of these for mountain biking. But, I find myself wearing them much more often. If you're familiar with the old track shoes called "racing flats", that is what these remind me of. They're very light and flexible but still give good stability. I can't speak for the tread for running, but it's fine for mountain bike pedals and just casual wear. I think these would be a good cross country or short distance racing shoe in addition to just a comfortable, casual shoe. I'll be buying more shoes of this style.

These are comfortable for walks/jogs but not for all day wear. They are minimalist shoes which I am learning are not my preference. The materials are so thin that they pull against my toes and eventually make them sore after wearing them for hours at a time. They are a nice burnt orange color and look much nicer than the ridiculous multicolored neon styles that seem to be "popular" now. I don't want mismatched neon shoes! These are much more appealing to me.
