Overall the fit is good, they seem true to size and the shoelaces stay tied!
It fits true to size and is a great shoe to wear.
My son received these for basketball use only and he is very happy with them.

First off, i've reviewed other New Balance basketball sneakers here before, so am familiar with the brand. I was originally looking to buy the BB889 but as usual NB no longer makes them and they are sold out everywhere (in my size). I have wide feet, and their are few sneaker brands that work around that. NB is one of them. When I browsed NB's website I was turned off by the appearance of these BBall shoes. They just looked plain ugly. With little options out there, I decided I'll used them for function and disregard looks, so I ordered the black on blacks. To my surprise, they actually looked great. The lettering and stripes are a bold metallic silver that really stands on the black. I recall thinking, wow I might actually have descent bball kicks here. I'm an 11.5 2E, but given my experience with past NB BBall sneakers, I ordered a half size larger 12 2E (you should do the same). I play 2 x week in an indoor court. Here are the pros:
Great traction, toe box has the right amount of room, the sneaker feels dependable and very stable, though its a leather (or synthetic leather) upper- my feet did not feel like they were in a sauna- now they weren't powder dry but they weren't sweating or too hot either, the sneaker is responsive, they look good on court-in the first week I received 2 different compliments on the looks and people asked me where I bought them, they don't feel cumbersome or too heavy, good torsional rigidity, good heel stability, ankles felt kinda secure, lastly I find them to be reasonably priced-compared to Nike's at least.

    Cons:
I wouldn't say these sneakers are made for comfort. Your feet don't feel special in these.

These New Balance are decent shoes and are worth lots more than the low price they are listed for
In a D width they are not particularly wide and wouldn't suit a broad footed person - shop for other models with a wider fitting if that's you
Good support around the ankle and the sole
I wear orthotic inserts and they work well with these
They may not be the lightest but are lighter than my old pair of Nikes
They are well made and durable
If you actually play basketball in them you will find the shock absorption is good and the traction is also fine
Simple design looks nice but not too flashy

Overall there may be better shoes out there but I doubt you will get anything of this quality at a similar price

I've gone through many basketball shoes over the years. I always bought regular 10.5 or 11 sized basketball shoes, and my pinky toes would eventually burst the side of the shoe open. It didn't matter what brand, Adidas, Nike, Reebok. None of the biggest names in Basketball shoes make an option for wide feet. Frankly, I don't understand why they don't. Surely NBA players, being significantly taller than the average population, must have wide feet. I daresay wide feet are the standard in the NBA. I digress.

I bought these shoes as they seemed to be the best value for a wide fit basketball shoe. I bought it in a 10.5 2E. Immediately, I had regretted all the years of playing basketball in a regular width shoe. They fit nicely, there was actually enough room for my pinky toes, in both shoes! The shoe itself is heavier than most other basketball shoes I've worn. That's fine, I'm not so young anymore that I *must have* the newest, lightest, bestest shoe available. I just want one that is comfortable and will last a while.

As for durability, I bought these shoes in August. It's March 8th now, and I decided to write a review because I'm about to purchase another pair. I play basketball a lot, either shooting by myself, playing games of 21, or pickup games. But I am playing 3-5 times per week, for 30-90 minutes each time. So these shoes have seen a lot of use. They aren't completely ready to be replaced yet, but they're getting close.

I'm buying them again because they have lasted long enough, are very comfortable, and are the right price for a wide fitting shoe.

My only complaint is the ugly red color. But, again, I'm not a youth anymore who must have the best shoes.

This shoe performed fine for the price I paid for it. I was looking for an inexpensive shoe and found it.

I play indoors twice a week so the most important thing is that they grip the floors. So far so good. We will see how long they last! Overall the fit is good, they seem true to size and the shoelaces stay tied! A good value sneaker ( got them on sale).

If your kid has extra wide feet then you know how hard it is to find shoes to fit. Even the ones that say extra wide aren't - except for these. He actually has 3 pairs because I honestly don't know where else to find extra wide shoes in black or navy, which he has to have for school. GREAT thanks to New Balance for recognizing that kids with wide feet need shoes, too!
