One minor downside is that the soles are not completely covered by rubber.

As most people have probably figured out by now, the New Balance MO10 are the outdoor (MO = Men's Outdoor) version of the fabulous NB MT10 Trail Running shoes that came out a couple of years ago (which is in fact my favorite shoe). If you own the MT10, you know that they are light-weight and meshy, leaving the wearer with the airy feeling of running/ walking close to the ground. That design came with the caveat of letting in debris and water while in use out of doors, and the MO10 seeks to correct that. The largest difference from the MT10, from what I can gather, is that the added material designed to keep the elements out make the MO's feel more 'shoey' and constructed. The water resistant material seems to hold the foot in a slightly different way, which is not bad, simply different. The band which runs across the forefoot, as others have mentioned, is less constrictive, which makes the shoe feel like less a part of your foot, as did the MT10-which seems to be a matter of preference. Also, the Vibram sole on the MO10's seems a touch harder to me somehow, and a hair larger in length than the MO10's, but I have no verifiable proof that says they are different.

The added materials, coupled with the different color way, make this a minimal and very similar shoe to the MT10 which you can run in a rainstorm with. If outdoor running is your bag, go for these, and find them at a sale. I plan to use mine indoors, too.

This shoe is a good alternative for people who don't want to wear Vibrams. You can wear socks, orthotics, etc. They are not the most stylish shoes in the world, I wouldnt wear them out for dinner etc but as a sports shoe they are great.

Excellent time in shipping to Afghanistan, 5-7 days. This shoe is getting quite popular over here, especially in the gym..Over all Great Shoe... but not so great on all the rocks on the FOB.

They ended up being a little tight so I returned them for a 2E size which was just right. Amazon made the return very painless and quick. Customer service as it should be. The shoes are about the lightest I've worn but provide excellent support. Can be worn with or without socks. The C/D width would have been OK without socks.

Unfortunately after only a 6miles hike the front started to come off, I believe the show is strong and very well made, maybe this particular pair was a bit defective. I submitted a refund and Im hoping to get a pair that will last me longer than a few weeks.

    Thanks

I wore these for 50 miles of the World's Toughest Mudder. The design kept debris out of the shoe. No hotspots, blisters, or other damage to my feet, which are one of the few things that don't hurt after doing WTM. The shoes are reasonably light, shed water well, and feet stay warm.

I had the MT1010 and they were amazing until they started falling apart after about 3 months. I researched for months looking for a better made New Balance shoe. I found these (MO10 2E) on Amazon for about half the price of what they were selling for at Footlocker. I have now gotten about 2 weeks of running and workouts out of these new Minimus shoes. These shoes are great, except for a few things:

    - One shoe is too tight. This causes numerous problems. I "feel" it is too tight, and I notice it when I run, which distracts me. When I squat is these, I feel the one shoe and again it distracts me. The tight shoe also makes my foot NOTICEABLY more sweaty. Even when I was wearing them just to break them in, my foot was sweaty while the other was not.

    - The strap over the top where the laces start seems to be coming loose. Now, on the tight shoe, I have the awkward feeling of tightness around the base of my foot, and looseness on the top.

In all, these shoes are great for me, but if they continue to wear out as quickly as they seem to be, I will return them. Maybe I got a mislabeled regular shoe and a 2E shoe and that is whats causing my problem.

I have the MT10s and utterly love them. So I thought these shoes would be good for the spring melting season when there is half melted snow and water everywhere. They are just ok. They keep out water a bit, but not as much as I would like. I would say that when you step in a puddle, about 50% as much water gets in as would otherwise. The sides are rather waterproof, but especially if the water splashes onto the top of the shoe it goes through a bit and you will notice it. For some reason, my feet seem to dry faster in these shoes than normal running shoes, probably because not as much water is getting into them.
So they are better than normal shoes for running outside in the wet, but I would prefer something even better at warding out water.
Besides for the water issues, they fit well and feel really good to run in. I love minimalist shoes and have been a bit fan of the MT10 line for years.
Note that they rub off black all over your socks if water does get inside. Every run I come home from, there is huge black stains all over my white socks. The black does seem to mostly wash out, but I suspect some long term staining might result.
