4.0 out of 5 stars Good shoe for heavy guy.
I'm a stocky 195 pound guy so I needed a "heavyweight" running shoe. After doing some research, I found out what type of shoe I needed and was referred to these NB 1064 nbx's. They are comfortable, cushiony and have plenty of toe room. The roll under your toes propels you forward nicely too. I got the white/navy shoes. They're not too flashy and look good with jeans...

1.0 out of 5 stars My first bad NB 106x shoe
I've been buying the New Balance "1060" line of shoes for several years now. These are NB's flagship neutral running shoe line. The previous model that these 1064's replace were the 1063's. I had a pair that were nothing short of wonderful and lasted about two years of running (190lbs, 12 miles/wk). The previous model (1062?) were the same, as were the model before that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Running Shoe Ever, June 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased these for my husband (a US Marine, and avid runner) because he always buys the cheapest shoes he can when left to his own devices, and pays the price in blisters, abrasions, and numbness. These shoes survive an average of 7-10 miles a day in varied conditions- hills, street, beach, etc. They are lightweight, breathable, and very comfortable. With shoes, you get what you pay for, but here on Amazon they are an average of $40-50 less than I found them locally. I highly recommend these shoes, with one caveat- the red dye they use on the insole does stain white socks. Other than that, which I consider a minor price to pay for comfort, they are an excellent buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, September 24, 2010

Had these shoes before, wore them out and needed a new pair. Got them here for a MUCH cheaper price then I paid for my original pair. Love the shoes, and will buy another pair when I wear these ones out too. Got the shoes for a great price, they shipped on time, arrived on time, and were in new condition. Would recommend this site and these shoes to anyone!!

5.0 out of 5 stars very comfortable shoe, March 14, 2011

I'm 6'1" and weigh 215lbs and this is my second pair of New Balance shoes and true to form, they fit well, are very supportive and have excellent cushioning. I tried doing some interval jogging and did not have any knee, back or shin splint pain. I'm a novice walker/runner but will keep it up until jogging full time. Very stylish shoe and looks great on me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Running Shoe, February 14, 2011
I had NB 1063's before and wore them for more than 750 miles, completing 2 marathons and lots of other shorter races. I'm using the 1064 for about a month, it's as good as its predecessor. These are very comfortable and durable shoes even for a big guy. If you're neutral runner, look no further.

The previous model (1062?) were the same, as were the model before that. So when I realized that my 1063's needed to be replaced I was almost ecstatic to see how cheap Amazon was selling the 1064's for. And because I've had several consecutive great experiences with this particular line of shoes, I assumed that the 1064's would be superb as well. Wrong! They have an awkward fit all around. They fit very tight. I've been wearing the same size 106x shoe for years, and haven't had to go larger on my other shoes. Going with a half size larger may have alleviated some of it (but not all), but they're still not what its predecessors have always been. For one, there is some kind of padding behind the heel. It feels like there are two "things" (for lack of a better word) digging into my heel. It's not painful and wouldn't leave a blister, it's just annoying and kind of messes with my step. I can tell it's some kind of double-pronged padding, but it feels like my socks are bunched up (like I didn't pull them up all the way).

All in all, it's kind of hard to describe all aspects of how this shoe is uncomfortable and awkward feeling. By the time I realized they were a bad design and didn't just need to be "broken in", it was too late to return them. So I hopped online and searched high and low for any retailers that still had last year's 1063's in stock. I found one seller on Amazon and bought them right away. They weren't discounted but I didn't care. Buying a shoe that I KNOW will be great for running outweighed any disappointment at not getting a "last year's model" discount.

I know other people are leaving rave reviews. It's all relative though. It depends on what you're used to. If you had a horrible shoe before, then the 1064 might not feel so bad. From now on, I will never buy shoes online again. I'm relieved that I got one of the last remaining 1063's, but after this, I'm just buying my running shoes locally. If it was a casual loafer for work, I might not care that much, but when it comes to running, the shoe is vital.

It really is; cushioning for old(er) legs and joints, and my mileage has increased in comfort.
At 55 I need all the cushion I can get and this stable, sturdy shoes delivers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confortable & supportive shoes, January 11, 2011

I've never bought a pair of New Balance shoes before and I must say that I am very pleased. I am a supinator with moderately high arches and these shoes go a great job in keeping my feet conformable on a run or throughout the day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fit, high quality craftsmanship, and American Made, January 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased these shoes at the end of year to accommodate my need for new running shoes because slimming season is upon us. It was time to renew my running gear to lose those extra pounds put on during the holiday season. These shoes are extremely stylish, show precise craftsmanship, and provide near perfect fit, a quality that I find rarely in today's typical running shoe. I highly recommend these wonderful shoes...I remain a New Balance fan for life!
