5.0 out of 5 stars Good walking shoe
I bought these shoes to walk on a treadmill. I walk 40 minutes/4 days a week and go through shoes fairly fast. I have worn the NB 843, 844, 845 and 846 over the years and thought I'd try something else. The 1200 is lighter and feels better on the feet. The other shoes were good but in comparison felt "klunky" next to the 1200's. The final proof will be in how they...

I've worn NB's for some number years now and have been pleased. However the 4E 1200's I just purchased are about one half inch narrower than the 4E 407's I was wearing. While these kind of basic changes are ok in a shoe store where you can adjust for size differences easily they do not make the online purchasing process a very rewarding experience. So beware if you are...

Excellent walking shoe, it could also be a light running shoe.Has a great heel shock absorbing system, extremly breathable. Could use same toe box as 1122 or 1123 for a little more toe room, my old main stay.

I've been looking for this combination in a shoe and this looks like the first one to satisfy all the above. True to size to boot. The "knotted" shoe laces keep the shoes tied.

It's only been a week. We'll see how it holds up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoe for Military Walkers, March 9, 2011
I love this shoe. I am Active Duty Army with bad knees so I have to walk instead of run for my physical fitness test. The fast pace I must walk has been made much easier thanks to the MW1200s I bought a year ago. I am getting ready to buy a second pair and still haven't found anything comparable for walking. Great shoe.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool, comfortable in wider size, January 13, 2012

Last year I tried on a pair of model 1200's in my usual D width and they were a bit narrow, and the right shoe had a seam along the right edge that pinched. But the shoe felt fine in the 2E width. Both shoes were in size 10, a bit longer than the 9 1/2 length I would usually take in most brands, but New Balance shoes are best ordered a size longer. The 2E fits great: I'm able to get a snug, comfortable fit from heel to arch from lace tightening, while getting excellent room and cooling for the front part of my feet. I'm now ordering a second pair.

2.0 out of 5 stars New Balance MW1200, September 23, 2011

Not worth the money, even at 2E they feel narrow. I was looking for an alternative to the New Balance 993 but even a close match. I regret buying them.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Walker's Dream, June 25, 2010
Excellent walking shoe! And I love the fact it's available in extra wide (4E) size. Lightweight and provides excellent support. I agree it could use a little more toe room, so I'm increasing shoe size by 1/2 on my next order.

My only disappointment is NB has an exclusive agreement with UPS and they won't ship via an alternate carrier (such as FedEx) - but that's an issue with the company and not the product itself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well the left one fits!, January 6, 2010
So disappointed! The shoes are half the weight of the ones I am trying to replace. I put socks on, and when I had walked around the house, the right shoe has a seam that hit that bone on the side of my foot. The left one doesn't. I've never had this problem before. I'm thinking there may be a defect with the right shoe, but I don't know. Just isn't right for my right foot whatever the reason. Other than this problem, I would have loved this pair, and rated it highly.
Returns are at your own expense and you are own your own as to shipping. No pre-printed label for Amazon users, so hope it fits, or be prepaired to do and pay your own UPS/USPS. Doesn't make me optimistic about a speedy credit back to my account. Adjusted my star rating down a bit. Now I still need to find a new pair of shoes, but I am gun shy about buying shoes online. This is going to cost me shipping cost just to find out that it didn't fit me.

Used to be if you wanted top quality sneakers you went with New Balance. That's not really the case anymore...they're no different than the other brands. They're all made by low-priced labor outside of the US with little care for quality. These sneakers aren't bad...but they're not all that good either. Fortunately, I was able to buy these 50% off and then another 20% off on top of that, because at full price they would have been returned immediately.
