I have been buying New Balance Cross Country shoes for years now as I can always count on receiving comfortable shoes in the wider size (4E) ordered. The Ansorb soles and heels are also very important as I navigate the rocky terrain here in the Arizona desert. I'm writing this to help those that are concerned that their new shoes are either too wide, too short, or too tight. I've found that beyond knowing your actual shoe size you must also pay attention to the " shoe last type" too. (My shoe last type is AL-1) To determine your "shoe last type"go to the New Balance web site for more detailed information on each shoe they sell. Simply put, once you determine your"shoe last type" you should only consider shoes that come in that type. My shoes always fit confortably right out of the box!

Very comfortable shoe. I have nerve damage in my feet and legs from diabetes and usually wear diabetic walking shoes that are form fit...but these shoes fit and feel almost like they are made for me...makes walking easier. Very light in weight making them a joy to spend time in. New Balance is the only walking shoe I have ever tried and liked.

I always wear New Balance shoes, because they come in the width I prefer, 4E, and the fit is always spot-on. My court shoes, cross-training, running and walking shoes are all NB and will remain that way as long as they make products like this MW659.

I have to say ive been generally speaking a NB guy. But after this shoe, i will probably think twice. After only a month of wear if that. The right shoe became frayed on all sides, the lip on the front was coming undone. And in parts of the fabric was starting to rip. Terribly disappointed.

These are a wide shoe that provides me a good fit. I've had others of this same model and buying on Amazon was convenient as most retail stores in my area do not carry them. On a matching pair, I've walked over 500 miles and they are still going.

I bought these shoes 6 months ago and the soles are already coming off.i am 70 years old,i do not run or jog and these shoes have seen limited use.Amazon has a very short return period and no product warranty so beware of buying shoes from them and do not buy new balance period if you are expecting them to last anytime at all .

I've ordered many shoes from various internet sources over the last few years and I've never sent one back, until now. This included other New Balance shoes and two or three other brands. I put these shoes on and wore them in the house on a day I had work to do in the office and it didn't take very long to determine they would not be comfortable. The insert was much thinner than any I had experienced, and the soles were harder than I anticipated. I know that sometimes when you buy a cheaper shoe you get a cheaper insert but these shoes felt like I was walking on concrete. I just used the free return feature on Amazon's shoes today. The last pair of country walkers I had a few years ago were marginal at best so I guess I should have learned my lesson to stick with running shoes for comfort.

Let me start by saying I spend most of my day on my feet on concrete floors so shoes are very important. The fit was nice, it is hard to find a shoe for a foot as wide as mine but these were a perfect fit. However, it is probably one of the least comfortable pairs of shoes I have ever owned. I wore them for a whole week thinking maybe they needed to be broken in but no. There is absolutely NO arch support what so ever. The rest of the sole is very hard and has no padding. I have had more comfort from a dollar store pair of flip-flops. I bought these thinking a "country walking shoe" would be a lot more comfortable.

For the past couple of years I've had trouble walking due to problems with one of my legs. These shoes have helped me greatly as I no longer feel some of the pain I had before. The shoe's soles are quite hard. All of the cushioning takes place within the shoe itself.

Before buying the shoes from Amazon I tried on a somewhat similar pair of New Balance shoes at Kohls so that I knew the size to buy. The shoes I purchased fit well with the exception that I have a little heel slippage. I think a small lift under the heel might solve this problem.

I bought these shoes 4 months ago. The toes blew out at the side seams. New Balance is expensive and getting more expensive. These looked like a good deal. We usually buy NB. Very disappointed in the quality of this shoe. Probably not going to buy NB again.
