4.0 out of 5 stars Holds up over the long haul!
I work as a pharmacist for Wal-Mart. I stand for as long as 11 hours during certain shifts. The New Balance 811 is one of 3 New Balance shoes in my "foot arsenal". Together with graduated compression knee-high socks, these shoes really make a dramatic improvement in my standing endurance. My legs are much less tired at the end of a shift. I wore a pair of traditional...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great product in the past, now...not so much
Back in the day, New Balance shoes were the most comfortable, supportive walking shoe I've ever worn.
Something has happened to the company.
These shoes are NOT the same. No longer comfortable. No longer good-fitting. The toe boxes have shrunk and the sewing on the inside of the shoe intrudes on the box. This is the 2nd pair of New Balance shoes that have...

Together with graduated compression knee-high socks, these shoes really make a dramatic improvement in my standing endurance. My legs are much less tired at the end of a shift. I wore a pair of traditional leather shoes to work and had to go home during my lunch break to change into my 811's! I have so much less stiffness and fatigue at the end of my shift. I have been a fan of New Balance for over 10 years now.

These were recommended as a good shoe for someone with Diabetes and foot discomfort. My husband loves them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit, December 30, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My husband tried these on at New Balance store. Their price almost half again as Amazon price. Great fit. Comfortable. I own the ladies version. Love them too.

These shoes are NOT the same. No longer comfortable. No longer good-fitting. The toe boxes have shrunk and the sewing on the inside of the shoe intrudes on the box. This is the 2nd pair of New Balance shoes that have been unsatisfactory (defective?).
Needless to say, I will no longer be a New Balance customer.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Balance Men's MMW811 Walking Shoe, December 25, 2008
By
It's a great shoe except the velcro straps are a wee too long and curl up at the ends a bit.

Other than that I am quite pleased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad shoe, August 19, 2011
Not a bad shoe. These shoes are quite comforatable for walking, and seem to last a long time. Therefore, I am buying another pair (my first pair finally wore out).

5.0 out of 5 stars So Comfy, July 31, 2011
I have purchased this model for at least 10 years. For those who know, the S-2 Last is important for my feet. These are mostly made in the U.S.
Now, early in 2011, I learned #811 is being dis-continued so I will be buying 4 pairs which should last me through 2013.
New Balance why do you stop one of your best sellers with no obvious replacement available?

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff but . ., April 18, 2011

Sizing is 1 to 1-1/2 sizes too small.

Otherwise a good shoe for the money.

For example, if you normally wear a 10
then get an 11 or even 11-1/2 if you
have a wide foot.

3.0 out of 5 stars New Balance Men's shoe #811, February 25, 2011
I like the shoe's except for one thing and that is the toung slips to one side if you walk very much at all. My other New Balance shoe's have a place on the toung to run the laces through. These do no and I think that is the problem
