It's why they don't design products to fit an image. They design them to fit. New Balance is driven to make the finest shoes for the same reason athletes lace them up: to achieve the very best.
Who knew you could pack so many features into a walking shoe? The New Balance MW812is a walker engineered with the same care as a competitive track shoe. A synthetic upper provides lightweight comfort and durability, while a padded collar and tongue provides a perfect fit. But the real story here is inside the shoe, where premium open-cell foam gently conforms to your anatomy and disperses pressure. Your foot thinks it never got out of bed!

My first disappointment was the fit. The 812s do not grip my foot as well or feel like they provide the same support.
New Balance eliminated the blue "walking strike path" insert that ran the full length of the sole on the 811. The 811's "rollbar", which was integrally molded with the "strike path" insert, has been replace with a smaller grey plastic insert. It appears the 811's 2-layer sole has been replaced with a single molded piece.
The 812 uppers have a wider gap for the lacing. They are single-stitched in some places that were double-stitched on the 811. The smooth leather has been replace with a cheap looking pebble-grained leather. There are fewer individual pieces and in one place there is a non-functional stitch that seems designed to mimic a similarly placed functional stitch on the 811.
The shoe just looks cheaper than the 811. They eliminated an inset, separately-stitched logo on the back of the heel counter to save money.
Definitely a step backward.
they seemed like the same old quality shoe i was used to but they are not.
after just a couple of weeks of wear the first pair began to develop a crack in the right shoe's sole. within a couple of months it was a split making them useless in the rain.
fool that i am i figured it was bad luck and i got a second pair- 3 months later they have the same split in the same place on both soles.
i have seen others online reporting the same issue and i will not be buying these shoes again. it is a shame because the 811 was such a fine shoe.
When I wear these, my Achilles tendon gets a painful cramp every time. My 811s don't have that effect.
NEW BALANCE: go back to the old design!
