New Balance Men's M556 Sneaker

This is my first pair of New Balance shoes, and I'm definitely pleased. I was looking for a stylish pair of athletic-looking shoes and had previously owned a pair of Saucony Jazz. These shoes are better made, more sturdy and just as stylish as the Sauconys. They fit my feet perfectly. A few things to note:

1. These shoes are not for you if you are flat-footed or have lots of over-pronation. They have little to no arch support. I am a slight over-pronater myself, and before putting in my own custom orthotics (which I put in all shoes) I could feel my ankles rolling inward slightly when walking.

2. They seemed to have a break in period of a couple weeks. Not that they were uncomfortable at first, but they seemed to gradually become more comfortable as I wore them.

3. They are low-profle and have more of a solid feel, rather than a cushy feel.

4. I have normal width feet, and these shoes are perfectly snug on me. They may be too snug on you if you have wider feet.

After this pair, I will be buying New Balances again.

I like these. They are relatively low to the ground for running shoes and their colors are relatively subdued. Sadly, like most sneakers they are made in China probably by impoverished children.

I found these shoes to be terrible despite all these great reviews. They do not hold your feet at all and my heels started hurting terribly from them. If you want comfort I would not buy these.

Fit great, look great, arrived super quick even with the Free Super Saver shipping (shipped Friday arrived Monday USPS).

JUST A NOTE: Not THE most comfortable shoe I've ever worn upon first putting them on- has a little less cushioning than on some of the pricier sneakers- but nothing to make me dislike the shoe. They are fashionable and practical and well-made. I have a feeling that with continued use I'll break them in and they will be plenty comfortable.

I was apprehensive about buying shoes online but I couldn't be happier with the M556. I have had them for a few months and they are still in great shape and are even more comfortable than the day I got them.

The fit and finish are fine, and as to flat feet, I put arch supports into every shoe I buy. Cannot say these are any more lacking in support than others. I walk the dog without socks, from day 1, and they are comfortable. I would expect them to be even more so with time. I was concerned about the lack of even sized lengths as I usually wear a 9. but the 9 1/2 fits fine. Be aware that the white/navy, that to me appeared in the illustration to be grayish-white, is a pure bright WHITE. Not a problem, but a surprise, To cavil, the shoelaces are really long!
