I have been wearing New Balance 993/996/998/999 series sneakers for over ten years. The slip on looked appealing to alternate with the regular sneaker. I wasn't sure if they were meant to be worn with socks or not. I got the same size I always wear and the verdict is they are sized to be worn barefoot or possibly with very thin socks, but definately not athletic socks, tube socks, etc. With that issued cleared up, I am very happy with the 801's. They are much more comfortable for walking than a sandal, you get the same arch support as the sneaker, and they don't slip around.

Great after exercise shoe and I actually use a pair on my in place bike & eliptical trainer. Easy on & off but not too easy

And they are great for summer too. Nice feel truly the ease of a sandal and the feel of a sneaker. I really like mine. I have several New Balance shoes and normally wear a 10 EEEE (extra wide) so I ordered the same size for this slip on. I found it runs large so I had to send them back and go down one size to a 9 EEEE, this has worked very well for me.
A bit of inconvenience however there was no problem making the exchange. Mine came from Shoe Mall and they were very helpful and easy to work with. Had it not been for the size disparity I would have given them a 5 also, I recommend.
