5.0 out of 5 stars New Balance MR1225 - Great for diabetic feet!
The New Balance MR1222-1225 series were recommended by a foot doctor. I use them for walking, not running. They are very well made and last a long time. 2.0 out of 5 stars I wear this for 2 months, the heel get loose.
As said in the title. This pair of shoes has the heel glued, so the heel can easily get loose, I have the left heel almost parted, the right one is half parted. I think this is a design problem, you can tell from the picture that the heel(the gel part) has limited contact area
with the other part of the shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Balance MR1225 - Great for diabetic feet!, November 27, 2009

The New Balance MR1222-1225 series were recommended by a foot doctor. I use them for walking, not running. They are very well made and last a long time. I am a diabetic and had painful plantar fasciitis. I went to several foot doctors, got injections, but the pain kept getting worse. These running shoes have made a huge difference. When paired with Spenco orthotic inserts and wigwam shocks (no painful seams), my feet feel great. I highly recommend them. Hope they help you, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stability shoes right out of the box, January 14, 2010
This review is from: New Balance Men's MR1225 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I am extremely satisfied with the 1225's. Right out of the box I found them extremely comfortable and ready to go. I took them out for a 7 mile run and thought they were great. Excellent cushioning, but not too soft and definitely not too hard on each footfall. I tend to suffer from shin splints and I think these shoes have helped me stabilize my gait and neutralize my shin splints. I also really like the styling (shoe laces do not come undone), color scheme and reflecting features (good for night running). I highly recommend them if you're someone who needs a stability shoe or even if you are a mild to medium overpronator who needs a stable but not heavy shoe.

5.0 out of 5 stars NB1225 = best running shoe I've ever owned, April 26, 2010
This review is from: New Balance Men's MR1225 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I have wide feet and am 6'-4', 240, so need lots of cushioning. I use these mainly for trail runs/light hiking and these blow away every other pair of shoes I have ever owned. Very light weight and breathable. Am buying several more pairs as I can't believe how comfortable they are. Durability for trails isn't the best (but I'm not complaining). NB makes great products and I've always loved their wide range of styles/sizes. As such, will remain a loyal buyer.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Balance, January 28, 2010

I have had the last two versions of the 1220 series and upgraded to the 1225's. These are a great balance of cushioning and support. Great for heavier people or people that have hard steps. Was dealing with plantar fascitis for a bit after my long runs and the support and cushioning in these helped me get rid of it. Would definately recommend to all.

Purchased this style to replace NB 804 from local store, in 2000. Great protection from ankle injury if one of those unexpected uneven surface's is not noticed.

The price is affordable, and to cushion damaged feet that running while carrying heavy construction materials caused burning pain in both heels, due to sprains from 1991 job while wearing a different brand running shoe.

New Balance is near perfect fit for feet that stomped concrete for too many years.

Confident that MR1225 tread will give needed traction on wet surface, and no pressure on heels and ball of feet from design of tread.

I did not have to purchase inserts for improved fit. Will compare fit after months or possibly years of limited walking produce need for inserts. Limited minutes standing and walking for this retired door to door salesman, means about ten years of useful shoe life.

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective materials and/or design of tread cause rapid wear, June 13, 2011

New Balance Men's MR1225 Running Shoe I've owned 20-25 pairs of New Balance running shoes in the past 10 years. Never have I had a pair of NB shoes literally disintegrate on me. After only about 50 miles of running the middle forefoot tread is almost gone having come off in chunks. The rest of the tread on the shoe still has those little dimples like on a new shoe, but the composition of the rubber in this part of the tread is clearly too soft or perhaps improperly formulated. Totally unacceptable. Stay away from this shoe at all costs.

I've got the last two of the 1220 series and find the 1225 much like the others. The shoe provides a blend of lot's of support and lot's of cushioning. I also like the fact that New Balance offers a size 15. So many of the different running shoes seem to run pretty small anymore and I've found that I have to keep going up to get a shoe that fits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solved my foot pain problem, October 26, 2010

I'm 60 years old and started jogging after years of not doing it. I'd been using a treadmill for fast walking on an incline for a long time, but no jogging. Not knowing any better, I thought I'd start doing a little jogging. I was using just flat tennis sneakers and jogging only a short distance caused significant foot and leg pain. My daughter suggested I get some "running shoes". I did a web search and found these shoes and based on the review ordered them. When I got home from the road trip I was on I found a pair of unused running shoes "Cross Trekkers" that I had bought at Payless and tried them because the New Balance order had not yet arrived. The Cross Trekkers were far better than the previous shoes and I could do brief jogs in them without significant pain. Then the New Balance shoes arrived and "Wow!". I couldn't believe how perfect a fit they were (being mail ordered) and how comfortable and cushiony they felt. The arch support they provided was far superior to the others and the toe room was perfect. Even the length of the laces and the spiral design functioned to keep them out of the way and locked securely when tied. The only thing I didn't like was that I thought they looked a bit ostentatious, but since I've had them a few weeks I've gotten used to their appearance/style. The reflective material on them is a nice safety feature. As my running workouts have progressed, I have not had any more foot pain, just occasional tightness in my quads when I increase the intensity of the workouts. I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars I prefer earlier versions of this shoe, September 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've had the 1220, 1222, 1223, and now the 1225. I love New Balance. But I'm switching to another line. (Trying the 883 for now.) The big difference b/w 1225 and earlier 122x shoes? NB switched this shoe from the SL-1 to the PL-1 last. Why, NB, why? The PL-1 is a tighter fit. Smaller toe-box in width and height. Just small enough to cramp my toes and cause lots of blisters. Also, the "anti-roll-bar" seems stiffer, just enough to change my stride and give me some niggling achilles problems in both legs. And the soles on these shoes have worn INCREDIBLY fast. (In the heel-strike area.) I have 170 miles on the shoes, and they already need replacing. My last 1223's have 215+ miles (I have been alternating the shoes while training for a marathon), and are fine. Just this pair, or endemic to 1225's? I've heard other complaints of this nature.

So, a bit disappointed in NB. I haven't tried the 1226's, but I think I'll pass. 883 has an SL-2 last, a bit roomier and also doesn't have the motion control, which may help my stride. 993's look like they might be an option, too. Just a warning that the PL-1 last might not work for you.
