The normal great fit by NB. Depending on the sock thickness you may feel a little space in the heel. 4th Gen Zip is addictive. The spring in your step makes running fun. After nine years of Abzorb running the Zip is great 4G shoe. Buy 1/2 size larger. Currently paired with

3.0 out of 5 stars Above average running shoe for large frame heel striker
I have two pairs of these to alternate between runs. I'm 6'1" and 201 lbs. The cushioning in the heel is above average, but the forefoot is average. No noticable pain or discomfort when using. I have narrow feet and they fit well. Also very well ventalated. They have held up well in all sorts of weather and 6 months of solid use (6-10 miles per week each pair)

Pros:*Abzorb® SBS in the forefoot provides 5-10% more effective cushioning than original Abzorb® with no compression set
* NB Zip® controlled cushioning in heel provides durable responsiveness
* C-CAP® midsole provides cushioning and support
* Removable full-length insert of ABZORB® cushioning provides added comfort
Cons:finding the right sock to get shoe to fit properly. No "Tokyo at night" reflectiveness like some other NBs. See 1350.

Pleasantly surprised with these shoes! Great style, amazing comfort! The fit of the shoe is pretty accurate for me. Felt snug, but its expected for running shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp Looking, This running shoe is a Winner!, January 8, 2009

I purchased this shoe for my son who is a Marine. He runs approximately 10 miles a day (his choice) to maintain his physical endurance. His previous shoes had no tread left after just six months. His only request: make them New Balance! He received them for Christmas and was delighted. The extra cushioning is great for his knees and the tread is superior for running on trails which he does frequently where he is stationed. A great bargain for the price. I would definitely recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied, December 14, 2008

Wearing it so comfortable when you are doing the running or just for the daily routine. I bought at 27 dollar which is a really good deal. BTW, half size larger will be better for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improvement over the 1st generation Zips, December 9, 2008
By

The NB Zip is a sturdy shoe. It does not feel soft and cushy like the 992. Instead, they feel solid and responsive. I ordered a pair of the original 8505 Zips when they first came out. That shoe is okay, but it can begin to feel stiff on long runs. The newer model 8509 has some improvements in the outsole that make it more flexible and less stiff. The Zip is a good durable shoe that will wear for a long time. If you're looking for pure comfort, choose something with more traditional cushioning. If you like solid and responsive, then this shoe is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sneakers, February 17, 2011

These are cool sneakers. They look great and have very sharp colors that make a statement. They are very comfortable, lightweight, and durable. They are great for running and for walking and even playing basketball in as they provide great traction and stability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Great!, November 7, 2010
This review is from: New Balance Men's MR8509 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I've had these shoes for 19 months and they rock! I have super wide and flat feet and I like to run, I tried Asics, Reebok, Puma (some worked), Adidas, Nike (some worked), and these are the best. Put a spring in my step and feel great on my feet. Even after 19 months they still feel springy and great (I only use mine in the gym and they still look and feel fresh) I would recommend these shoes to anyone. Lost lots of weight wearing these shoes. Even when pushing a lot of weight the shoes are supportive and not awkward. I weigh a solid 198-200 pounds and even when holding a lot of weight i.e. dumbbells, bars. etc. feel supported. If you want a shoe that is great to run + lift in you've found a winner. I got this shoe at a discount store called Ross for $35 and was PLEASANTLY surprised. Forget X-Trainers these shoes do it all!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Shoe, bit tight on sides, and heel a bit rough, February 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: New Balance Men's MR8509 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I have these in blue, I dont have much experience with New Balance running shoes except the classic styles but these were good. They were a bit tight compared to the classic shoes, a wide model would have worked well, though I wear medium width.

Kinda hard to clean, first time I wore them I ran though a dirt baseball field and they have been dirty ever since even with cleaning them. The dirt likes to get trapped in the mesh parts.

Overall not a bad buy for under $30

I could sum this review with one word.... "aaaaaaaah!"

This is one of those shoes that "just feels right" Decent arch support, very stable, extremely comfortable all day long - day after day. No, I don't run, but I wanted a shoe that was comfortable as I am on my feet most of the day. These truly are wonderful to wear. I wear size 13, and these seem to run true to size and do break in and stretch a bit after time.

Would I recommend them to a friend? You bet! Would I buy another pair? In a minute! Highly recommended!!
