My last sneakers and the ones before it were both NB Zip running shoes. This one has a good number of design and built issues but since it is still my favorite sneakers I'm giving it four stars. The main issues I have with this shoe:

1 - The rim comes up and has a 90 degree attachment to the top mech area. It is just bound to break at that point and sooner than my previous shoes.
2 - The left and right ones don't match at all. The cuts are bad and one seems to have about 1/2 inch more side when you put them side by side.
3 - Continuing #1 and #2 above, the top mesh ends at a point where two different side pieces meet. Not only a break point but depending on how well the two halves line up, can either be a sharp ugly point there or a round area.
4 - The foam in the area to back of the heals isn't attached well at all. If you push the heal area down it will bunch up into a ball inside of the back of the shoe. This happened within first few weeks I had this shoe and did not happen at all to the previous one which I worse for years and I still have.

I'm glad this shoe is US made (apparently the only one left) and the ZIPs are still my favorite but this is a lot worse of a shoe when compared to ones that came before it.

EDIT -

I'm downgrading this shoe to 2 stars. The bunched up foam was too uncomfortable and the shoe did not last well, getting ripped on the sides. Now I have NB 993 which is an amazingly good shoe, ten times of a better than this one, and the pair of NB ZIP I had before this one, used for gardening, etc.

Purchased these for my son. He runs every night. As we live in the south, he needed shoes that let the feet breath. He is very happy with these, his shoes don't knock me out, and the support is great. They run true to size.
