My job consists of lots of walking in some of the most remote parts of rural Guatemala. I picked up these shoes a few months ago on a brief trip back to the US and couldn't be more pleased. They're rugged and comfortable; the provide the perfect combination of durability and comfort for a walking shoe designed for conditions more rugged than an urban environment. The thick leather covering makes them ideal for rocks and street dogs that bite at the ankles of passing motorcycles. More than once has one chomped onto my foot and not done any damage to either the shoe or (more importantly) my foot. I plan on purchasing another pair when these ones have to go to the great shoe tree in the sky. Couldn't be happier!

Outstanding support for a walking shoe/everyday wearing shoe. I have several longstanding problems with my feet and legs. One of them requires a 'lift' on one heel to straighten my posture. The removable insole of these shoes makes the adjustment easy and secure, and still provides a good looking shoe interior. (Which has never been a top priority, but it is a plus!)
Next, I have arthritis in my knees and these shoes provide a good shock absorption and promote a good walking stride. Then, I have a internal cyst on my heel, that needs a firm but not-too-firm support of the surrounding shoe.
Finally, they are NOT MADE IN CHINA!

These are very comfortable and look great, I'm a little worried about keeping the light colored suede clean ... but that's me. As always NB is great for those of us with wider feet (even the D is much roomier than other brands). PS: NB runs a little small - I wear a 8.5 in dress shoes, a 9 in others, but a 9.5 in NB.

These walking shoes are comfortable and at an affordable price. They are also nice looking, and not as hot as some other types of shoes. My husband really likes them.

I HAVE A COUPLE OF OTHER NEW BALANCE SHOES AND WHILE THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE, THIS SHOE IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. MY FEET HURT AFTER WEARING MOST SHOES FOR A WHILE, BUT THESE I WORE ALL DAY AND MY FEET NEVER HURT! IT ALSO FEELS LIKE YOU ARE WALKING ON AIR! WILL BUY THESE AGAIN AFTER THESE GET WORN OUT (BUT MY PAIRS OF NEW BALANCE LAST A LONG TIME!)

Great shoe for the price. Purchased for my dad as a birthday gift. He is very happy and so are his feet!

I have been trying to find the perfect walking shoe for quite some time. I found these and the search is over.

This is a great walking sneaker! Because I spend several hours each day being a slave to a desk and way too many emails, my sanity break comes in the early evenings when I take spirited (4 to 6 mile) walks around the military base here. Needless to say, maintaining a level of recreational physical-activity in Iraq brings its own set of challenges. Having workout footgear that is rugged enough for the terrain, yet lightweight enough not to be cumbersome is wonderful! As a walking shoe, the MW644 is army-boot tough in construction, but is comfortable enough for short distance running - should that need arise. The neutral dessert color scheme really goes well with the sand here. The tread pattern and wide base comes in very handy as Iraqi soil turns into a slick-as-snot concoction after only a few drops of rain. The MW644 has allowed me to remain upright and mobile as I've walked past various traction-equipped vehicles that had slid into each other, ditches, and various stationary objects. I would recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a well constructed walking shoe that doesn't cry to be handled with kit gloves. I'm looking forward to buying a replacement pair after I log 600 miles on this pair.

I could not buy the shoes I wanted locally. I got on Amazon.Com. and was able to order them and received them within a few days. Very happy with the product and would recommend them to anyone.

The New Balance MW644 is very comfortable, nice looking, and as in the past I expect it to last a long time.
