Super light weight, great fit and comfort.

They have a nice low sole for heavy weight lifting, but are also great to run in because they are so light.

I wouldn't wear these running or outdoors. Most of the sole is EVA foam and wouldn't hold up for an extended period. These are made for indoor cross-training use, not running. I own many pair of NB Minimus shoes and you can't go wrong.

    Pro's:
    - great fit
    - plenty of room in the toe box
    - 4mm drop is great
    - just the right amount of cushioning
    - best without socks as they have an internal liner

    Con's:
    - Don't like the EVA sole. Will not hold up outdoors if you intend to run or walk in them
    - Don't like the padded heel cup

Great lightweight shoe for strength training or cross fitting. I ordered half a size larger than what I would wear in a pair of asics runners and would recommend this approach for ordering the shoe. The shoe is great for squatting and dead lifting, doesn't force you onto your toes like a normal running shoe would when doing these lifts.

Great shoe if you are weight lifting or, like me, kettlebell and bodyweight training. They even feel pretty good when running or sprinting (although, I have been told they don't hold up well if you plan to put some serious miles on). Lightweight and comfortable, there's nothing to not like so far (a few weeks of training on them). However, after only the second time wearing them, the black material that runs along the front, toe area of the shoe has started to peel, leaving me to question the craftsmanship. Only time will tell how the hold up. Since they only cost me $70 as compared to some other shoes well above $100, I am not livid. However, it is enough for me to be somewhat reserved in my enthusiasm. Save the box and packing slip for a couple weeks, just to be on the safe side.

I've been wearing these MX20 Minimus training shoes for my workouts for about 2 1/2 months, and I'm very happy with them. I've worn various NB cross trainers in the past that I've been happy with, but this was my first foray into the "minimal" shoe category. I wasn't sure if I would like them when I ordered them, but I'm very happy with them.

I wear these NB exclusively for working out in a gym environment. The only running I do in them is 5-10 minutes on the treadmill, either a warmup or a few intervals. I would not try running in these shoes on pavement as the sole is very thin and feels soft and I'm guessing they would probably wear out quickly - they seem to be made for mostly indoor use. These aren't running shoes so that may be obvious, but in the past I've occasionally used cross trainers for short runs outdoors and I won't be doing that with these as I'd like them to last.

I don't do cross-fit per se, though I guess my workouts do sort of resemble it. I do mostly a combination of calisthenics, weight training, and some cardio/combo and kettle bell type exercises. For this type of workout, I find these shoes to be excellent - they're light, comfortable, and I like the flat profile, especially for squats and lunge type exercises (my feet just feel more planted on the ground with the flat profile). One issue I've had with traditional cross-trainers is it was always very important for me to buy a shoe with good lateral support - I've found with this flat profile, there isn't much need for lateral support because your foot is so flat and close to the ground, there isn't really anything to "roll" as in a traditional thick cushiony sole - awesome.

I wear a 10.5 wide to a 11 in size.In New balance I have always been true to size with a 10.5. I took a chance and went with 10.5 wide in the minimus. At first I was thinking of returning for an 11 wide. I wore a few times with a thin sock around the house. Then went for work out. The shoe broke in after about 3 work outs, then it seems that I lost part of my pairs of socks{not the shoes fault}. So now I them wear bare foot. I very pleased with my choice not to return for an 11. It fits like a slipper. I feel that a extra length would have made the shoe sloppy, how ever if you prefer to wear a heavier cotton sock, 1/2 size bigger might be better. I will warn though, when doing crossfit workouts with longer sprints such as 400 x 3, you will want to wear one of you old taller healed workout shoes to avoid tearing up your calves. This did happen to me since this is my first low profile work out shoe.

This is a review for the NB Minimus MX20.

Couple of things I was looking for in certain shoes:
    1. How the shoe fits.
    2. Durability of the shoe.
    3. Functionality of the shoe (lifting, running, jumping, etc.)
    4. How the shoe looks.

The shoe fit to size like many reviews have noted. I didn't need to go up or down in size. I fit around a 8.5 in Chuck Taylor's, and I ordered a size 9 for the NB Minimus MX20. Fits like a glove, and has a bigger toebox than the Chucks do. Plus, I wear them at work and they never cause sole problems, unlike my Vibrams do (I have extremely flat feet). One thing I noticed different in comparison to VFFs was that the MX20s did have the *tiniest* mid-sole/arch that I had to get used to, especially during lifts. It wasn't an issue, it was just something I had to grow accustomed to, as opposed to VFFs there was zero "breaking in" time. Because of this, there is a bit of a lift in the back leading me to lean forward sometimes during my training (squats/deads/etc.)

For the durability of the shoe, I've done many lifts, and they are phenomenal. Only thing like I said above, I had to get used to the forward lean, as opposed to the VFFs I was very grounded for obvious reasons. On top of that, I've done indoor sprints 2x/week on both an indoor track and treadmill, and have seen very little wear and tear for the the month or so that I've had them. The functionality is great, and I suppose it goes along with the durability. Olympic lifts - check, traditional lifts (squats/deads) - check, sprints, jumps, etc. are awesome.

One thing I failed to mention thus far is that you can wear [normal] socks with these shoes.
