4.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoe. Comfortable for 3-5 mile runs.
I bought this shoe at a FootLocker for $65.

I wish I bought them here since they're cheaper.

I use them for running on a 3.5 mile dirt and grass path that runs near my house. It should be noted these running shoes are NOT made for running on pavement. I bought some New Balace MR7500's for that. These do not have the shock absorption for running on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Light but not rugged or comfortable
Of course, as you wear them the provide a better fit...but from the get go these are a bit flimsy. You get what you pay for. Very light, but poor lace control to help provide support. Cheaply made. (again, you get what you pay for)

Wouldn't recommend for longer runs or anything truly trail, with lateral motion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoe. Comfortable for 3-5 mile runs., June 24, 2010

These do not have the shock absorption for running on hard surfaces, it gave me shin splints after just 2 miles with these shoes.

However, on a trail (as their design suggests) they are incredibley comfortable. I also like the dark colors with bright yellow streaks. Plus the shoe is also very light, and the mesh top keeps cool air flowing over your foot. Very nice effect.

I only give it 4 stars since after 5 miles on semi-hard, or 2 miles on very hard surfaces I get shin splints with these shoes. With my MR7500's I get no shin splints on hard surfaces for up to 10+ miles.

But its a trail running shoe made for running over dirt and grass. If you intend to run on trails in the woods this is your shoe.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Break In Needed - Great Workout Shoes, November 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have put some miles on these shoes and thought I'd share my experience. I was looking for workout shoes to use for jogging / running on a treadmill. I put a little over 2 miles on these shoes each workout and have been pleased with them. I'll give a quick rundown of potential Pros and Cons.

Pros:

1. These shoes are very comfortable when you get the correct size.

2. The shoes are light weight.

3. The mesh lets air ventilate through (This is nice as my feet get hot while running. I really like this feature.)

4. They are nice looking.

5. The price was awesome ($40 for the orange trim version. There is a lot of bang for your buck here.)

Cons:

1. The material would probably be hard to clean. (I haven't tested this since mine do not get dirty on the treadmill.)

2. The sizing is not the standard New Balance sizing. I have owned New Balance shoes and currently have a pair that are size 10D. That has always been the size I buy in New Balance, but I saw some reviews talking about sizing issues. I went to a retail shop to try them on and I had to move up half a size. 10.5D was perfect for me.

Sizing - I highly recommend this shoe, but I would try them on at a store to make certain they will fit comfortably. Try going with half a size bigger and see if it works for you as it did for me. They are a little more narrowed at the toe, so just try them on to test the fit.

I'll update this review later on as I put more mileage on these shoes. They are perfect for my needs at the moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, July 16, 2010

Bought these shoes because I do a lot of hiking trails with the dog on state land. These shoes give more support, to the base of my feet, then any I have tried so far. They make you feel very stable and give a lot of support to the outside of your foot. I plan on buying another pair, that I will keep clean, for daily use.

Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars If you have had NB before get a size up, because sizing seem inconsistent., November 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
NB sizing seems to be inconsistent these days. I have own many NB's and have always been a 9.5 4E. I have even recently been to a shoe store a mile from my house and tried on some 9.5 4E of this same shoe and they fit but were $15 more. So I was going to buy at Amazon, expecting the same fitting show to arrive, to my surprise the shoes were smaller. Either these are 9.0 shoes mislabeled as 9.5, or NB is horribly inconsistent.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not an all-around shoe, September 30, 2010

I'm not a really a runner, or a trail runner, so these shoes may be perfect for that. I'm just writing this for anyone who's just looking for a decent shoe. I bought these because of the color and the reviews and the fact that I really like New Balance shoes. I just needed to replace a pair, so I was looking for a decent-looking, comfortable shoe to walk around the city. I was unpleasantly surprised to find that these shoes are pretty much only a foam-like shell with some (what looked to be) decorative mesh over it. I've never seen anything like it. One could never wear these in any sort of wet weather, nor could I imagine them holding up on hard surfaces for any real length of time. But, like I said, that could be the thing with trail running shoes. I just wanted to caution the casual shoe wearer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Way too small...., September 17, 2010
By
I have been buying and wearing New Balance size 10.5 4E exclusively for at least the past 10 if not 15 years. Approximately 2 pairs per year. The 4E wide size is hard to find in stores, so whenever I find a decent-looking pair (i.e., not bright white!) I buy it.

This time around I couldn't find an attractive gray style New Balance in my size in any of the stores, so I figured what the heck, let me buy online as I know for a fact I'm size 10.5 4E in New Balance and have never had a problem.

The shoes come quickly and I was pleasantly surprised to see a tag on them congratulating me on my luck for having purchased a pair that was "manufactured or assembled" at one of the 4 USA-based New Balance plants. Kudos to New Balance for that, but you might want to train them on sizing...

I wore the shoes for an hour and it was painful. They were a full INCH shorter/smaller in length than every other New Balance 10.5 4E that I've ever tried. My big toe was killing me. They also were more narrow than every other New Balance 10.5 4E shoe that I've tried in stores.

I returned them. And since I selected "too small" as the reason for the return, I have to pay the shipping back even though I don't feel it's my fault. I buy a lot of merchandise online if the price is right. But I'll never buy shoes online again.

1.0 out of 5 stars not true to width, August 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Disappointed. Ordered extra wide, and although it says XW on the shoe itself, the fit was waaay snug.

Not happy with product and quite disappointed in NB since this is our first bad product experience with the brand. I'm thinking this was more for women's rather than men's.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good sneakers, September 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these for my fourteen yr old son. Amazon had the best price by far on these shoes. They look good, and as always, the new balance wide width are comfortable for those with wide feet. The negative on this particular pair is that the tongue is a little funky and always wants to slide down further in the shoe than the usual. It wouldn't be a big deal, but these shoes tie up on the higher end, so the tongue slides below where they tie. Perhaps you could unlace them a bit and it would work out better, but so far my son has complained and I can easily see it would be uncomfortable.
