DO NOT BUY A NEW BALANCE TREADMILL, May 8, 2011
This review is from: New Balance 1400 Treadmill (Sports)
I have owned my New Balance 1600 treadmill for 4 years. I had it repaired 4x thus far. Now it needs to be fixed again. I have permanent scars on my legs from when I was thrown off the treadmill from it suddenly speeding up to max speed. Here are some of the problems I had with this machine:
1) When pressing a button to speed up from a 4.0 to a 5.0mph or 5.0 to 6.0mph, the treadmill slows to almost a spot then speeds up again to the desired speed. Could you imagine running along then suddenly the thing stops on you??? DANGEROUS. We had it repaired once for this, and it is doing it AGAIN.
2) Heart rate grips never worked.
3) Suddenly flicks off.
4) Won't get power at all (another call to the dealer for a fuse...lucky still under warranty at that point_
5) Jogging along at 6.0mph, treadmill suddenly speeds up to max speed. As I am being thrown from the treadmill, I pulled the emergency stop cord...AND IT DIDN"T WORK!!! As my skin was burning on the continuing tread, me tangled up on it, I had to be rescued by a family member. It finally stopped, then didn't turn on again for a week. I am not about to get back on this possessed machine.
6) Customer service (now Fitness Quest) is terrible at best.
This machine is dangerous. I have the scars to prove it. You've been warned.
