I was looking at a pair of Keen shoe/sandels for kayaking and hiking around, but I did not find a pair that fit my needs -- size, style, color.

I've had the new balance SM920 for about ten days and I've used them a few times -- for walking, kayaking, and running around state parks.

Pros:
' good support (that's why I love NB shoes)
' pocket in tongue for drawstring
' good traction for walking up/down kayak entry points
' easy clean up -- hose down the inside to remove sand and grit (this is when the water draining system works great)


Cons:
' water draining system gets clogged with lake/river debris
' feet get somewhat hot in direct summer sun

Overall
These shoes are great for use in the water and for use paddle sports and walking; I'm pleased with another fine new balance product. These are a nice alternative to a pair of Tevas or Keen sandels.

I got the crazy colored grey/green ones because, even though I thought they were ugly, they were less than half the price of the other two. My wife, who critsizes all my clothes choices, saw them and commented that she liked the colors on those shoes, go figure. I bought them to go to Hawaii and they were perfect for that. Did a lot of walking on beaches with every kind of terrain, they are much better at that than any sandal or water sock, believe me. If the waves break over your shoes, no worries, the water just drains right out the bottom. Now that we're back home I can still wear them to work on casual day, they still look nice and feel great.

I have always been a fan of New Balance because they allow the wearer to swap out the insole with a custom orthotic.

When they arrived I opened the box and put them on my feet right away. Without socks they are a perfect fit and I have walked all over in them. Used them while playing volleyball at dusk in the grass as well as while hitting some balls in a batting cage. Definitely allows my foot to breath but I think with socks it would be a tight fit.

An excellent product and at a very reasonable price. The colors did not make a difference to me, I was looking for a water shoe that fit and was constructed to last. Tried it on the minute I opened the box. The fit was perfect and comfortable. The next weekend I went canoeing so I could put the shoes to the test and I was happy all around with the performace. I was pleased that the shoe drained well, no rocks were able to get into the shoe and the shoe gave me stable footing. Amazon Verified Purchase

Bought this sneaker for my father-in-law who doesn't go barefoot or wear sandals. He loved these sneakers! Will use them to canoe, fish & wash his car. Bought 1/2 size bigger and they fit perfect. I shopped around & Amazon was the cheapest.

Love the shoe... It just runs a little snuger than any other NB i own. 80% of the shoes i own are NB and usualy the size is right on but these shoes are a bit snug. I order the next full size up they were wayyy to big. I went the half size down and they are perfect. Great shoe for water

These were super comfortable, easy to take on and off, great for the beach. I took them on vacation and got them wet and they dried quickly. They are also very light weight. They seem durable but I've only had them a few weeks now. The soles are nice and cushy...not hard at all. Almost seemed like I was wearing super light weight running shoes. I would buy these again and recommend them.

Excellent product. Shoe more than lived up to its name. I was in Hawaii on Kauai for 3 weeks and used it daily for walking and beaching. Handled the heavy rains and creeks well, washed off the red dirt easily. Even worked well for ziplining and hiking. Very comfortable with and without socks. Definitely glad I bought size 11 (usually wear 10.5). Would recommend this shoe without hesitation.

Very nice shoe but note that sizes are smaller, if you wear a 9 1/2 for example, a 10 is still too small, have to go up one full size. Other than size, have New Balance quality that we expect.

I was looking for a shoe that felt like Nike's Free line - where you are wearing no socks and the barefoot feeling still exists. These certainly have that. I have biked, hiked, run, and even hit golf balls in these shoes. They dry quick, and you can wash them with your clothes to get rid of any stink they may have accumulated.

I'll need to see how long they last, but I am already considering purchasing a 2nd pair in a different color just to mix it up.
