I have wide, low-arched feet and have struggled over the years to find a shoe that would be kind to my feet. I really LOVE the Vibrams brand, and when Vibrams collaborated with New Balance, it was a shoe marriage made in heaven. I seriously love these shoes. They are so incredibly comfortable. I don't suffer arch pain or foot fatigue in these. In fact, they've become my everyday shoes. I definitely will buy another pair.

Just a little background: I'm very active. Run just about everyday, workout 5 days a week. Shoes have held up. Easy clean, easy dry, easy maintenance shoe. I've run with them in the rain. It's been a few months now and the shoes are still great. I've washed them twice already and they dry quickly just by allowing them to sit on the porch.

    Love these shoes!

I recently decided to try the transition from a standard neutral running shoe to a minimalist. This particular shoe came highly recommended by Cheryl Brand at On The Run in Clear Lake. Having never offered a bum recommendation, I took her up on the advice. Here are my thoughts so far:

    Pros:
*Obviously very lightweight. Doubles as an excellent shoe for road racing speed drills.
*Excellent traction through entire foot strike
*The tread is grippy without picking up rocks and pepples
*Fully lined and can be worn without socks very comfortably
    *Breathable and cool

Cons (if you can call them that):
*We're not fooling anyone here. No socks = stinky feets
*A little pricy. I scored mine on sale.
*I've worn them about 4 weeks and the tread is already wearing down quickly on my heavier strike zones.

As with any new running shoe, you have to ease into this as well. Starting with short runs will minimize blisters until you get used to it.

I already have two pairs of the wt10's, and have been looking for another minimalist shoe because one of my pairs is wearing out. I tried New Balance's wt20's, and was very disappointed in the loose fit and crinkly fabric and returned them immediately. I found the gray, pink, orange version of the New Balance wt10v2's by accident, and after I tried them on, I couldn't believe it! They fit just like my wt10's and they look GREAT! Better yet, they feel light and run perfectly, with no break-in time. I welcomed them into my life like a new love, and I recommend them to anybody wanting/needing a great minimalist running shoe! Side note: since I've gone minimalist, I wish ALL my shoes and boots were minimalist in the way they feel. When I wear anything else, I can hardly wait to get home and change, slipping my feet into the cool, soft interior of my New Balance wt10's that I wear every single day of my life for around the house or around town (this is the pair that is too worn for running, but not too worn for walking). I love wearing them without socks, but when I run in the wt10v2's, I wear socks. You could go either way, but on long runs, I want to prevent blisters and calluses. If you already love the wt10's, and are looking for something almost identical, GET THESE! You won't regret it! :o)

I work in the Emergency Room 12 hour shifts and I walk all day long. The NB minimus are the most comfortable shoes I ever had. This is my second pair already. Love them!!!

I just got these about 15 minutes ago. I put them on immediately and was amazed at the comfort. This is my first minimalist shoe--I usually jog and do plyo/agility activities on the trail wearing saucony stability shoes with powerstep inserts (low arches), but I've gotten weary of my heavy footfalls and trouble finding balance when my feet feel like bricks. (Which is not a slam on the sauconys, which I've always loved--just looking for more control).

Full disclosure--I haven't run/jogged in these yet, but I did do some basic calisthenic warmup activities and they feel great. Just the right amount of cushion to absorb some shock while still allowing me to maximize the full stability/balance power of my actual feet. Plus the soles are really grippy. I'm really excited to take these out for a spin this afternoon.

Regarding the sizing: I read TONS of reviews of this and the WT10 noting that these run pretty small. I wear between 8-8.5 street/dress shoe but have always worn 9s in athletic shoes to make space for swelling feet (and to help keep my feet cool). So I ordered these in a 9. I have about a thumbnail's width between my big toe and the end of the shoe without socks (I anticipate wearing socks with these through the winter, though I'm now sockless and feeling cozy). This feels like the right length for me--no rubbing at the end, a comfortable width (B), and room for socks and/or the usual swelling that comes with warm active feet.

You will not regret these shoes--just make sure you read up on how to ease into a minimalist shoe if this is your first. Hoping to find these on a flash sale somewhere so I can purchase a backup pair.

I am not a runner anymore. I was told I can't be. I have a geriatric body with naughty vertebrae and joint issues that prevent me from indulging in the sport, yet I'm only in my early 30's. Suck. Thus, my review is solely as one who wears these as a casual walker/traveler/hiker.

Here's how my story begins. I wanted new, cool, lightweight sneakers to take with me on the German GAPP exchange I lead this past summer. My rational: If I was being forced to chaperone 10 teenagers abroad all alone, I could justify new kicks yet again (I go through this same shoe-buying process every time I'm about to go on this exchange....so every other year!). When I first investigated my shoe options and discovered these online, I was wary. The price was high, and I'd never tried on a minimalist shoe before. Also, I have a terrible back. As the "randomly-goes-out-on-me-whenever-it feels-like-it-and-I-can't-walk-anymore" kind of back (3 bad lower lumbar disks - 1 has oozed out and sits right on a nerve = bane of my existence). Given these factors and the amount of walking we do abroad (TONS), I didn't want to (and couldn't afford to) invest, yet again, in another pair of shoes that'd end up being mere luggage decor.

Long story short, I did A LOT of research regarding this shoe compared to others, and in the end, I kept coming back to the Minimus silver/purple runners, because they are so pretty (yes, aesthetics in a shoe counts for me), and they continuously get fab reviews. Thus, after hemming and hawing for about a week, I up and ordered them, hoping for the best.

Low and behold - I was not disappointed - not disappointed in the least!! I wore these suckers with gusto abroad, and I've been blazing trails with them in the good ol' Midwest ever since.
