Very comfortable from the first day; I did NOT have to "break them in" at all.

I was wearing the NB804 tennis shoe but they are all leather and really hot, and as they aged, the leather loosened up and I couldn't tighten it up enough to keep my foot from slipping. I wanted to move to the WC1005 but was concerned about the reviews noting the heel was wider/larger than in the previous model (1004) and although I have a wide foot, I have a narrow heel. After trying them on in a store and having the heel slip initially, I re-tightened them and changed the lacing at the top, and they felt great. The white/blue version is running about $40 cheaper on-line than the all white so I bought it. I've been wearing them for tennis several hours a day for the last two weeks. I have a bunion on one foot and normally have to wear a D (wide) width, but in this shoe the regular B width has been perfect. They felt great from the first day and I'm very pleased.

I'm tough on the soles of my tennis shoes. Once I wore through one brand in a month and a half. I came to wear New Balance first because of their tough soles, but I stayed because of the support, roomy toe box, and comfort. The 1005 aren't the best New Balance tennis shoes I've worn, but they are the best for me in the current line. They have good mid-rise ankle support to ward against rolling. The soles grip without hanging onto the court. I have a high arch/instep, and this shoe's stability is critical.

New Balance tends to run a little small. Even though I wear an 8.5 shoe, I wear a 9 in this one to protect my toe nails from cracking during sudden stops. Ever since I've sized up in New Balance, I haven't had any problems. I used to paint my toe nails every summer, all summer long, because otherwise I couldn't wear sandals.

New Balance is one of the few tennis shoe brands that comes in narrow and wide widths, although you have to like the shoe first to make it worthwhile. Before buying these, I recommend that you try on a pair of New Balance shoes, even if they are not this particular style, in a store to see if you like the general fit of the brand.

These are not the "tennis shoes" of the Midwest -- that is, these shoes are specifically designed for playing tennis, not everyday "sneakers" as we say in the Northeast. They lean forward slightly to keep you on the balls of your feet, and they are cushioned in high-impact areas, with stabilization to keep the foot upright during quick lateral movement. Although I probably could wear them all day long, I certainly wouldn't want to wear them every day, all day long. If you are looking for an everyday athletic shoe, choose a walking or fashion model.

I like the shoe because it is light and has good support.....I have suffered with plantar fasciatis and do not want it again!

This shoe is perfect. I will wear it as long as they make it!!! The shoe is wide enough not to rub against my bunions I have developed from years of playing tennis. It's my perfect shoe.

The front of this shoe might be the best tennis shoe ever; it is comfortable and supportive enough, cozy and cushioned. Remarkable. However, the back of it is too big. Really really big. Super big. Weirdly, disappointingly, confusingly big.
If you have hooves, this might be the right shoe for you.

I normally wear a wide, so I ordered regular in this shoe based on reviews. They did fit, but just didn't feel right. A little snug around the ball of foot, but loose in the heel. Returned them. Will try a different style. Also, this is not a shoe for anyone with pronation issues. There's not enough support on the inside of the foot.

I'm usually pretty easy to fit and often buy shoes online. I ordered my size in an eight and a half, but unfortunately they were too narrow. I'm surprised with this, as New Balance tends to run on the wide side.

I love this tennis shoe! I did go down slightly in size to get the right fit. I have wide feet and normally would wear 8 1/2 wide but I ended up buying 8 wide, and have been very happy. I use orthotics in these.
