5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Running Shoe
I typically run 15 miles a week and have plantar fasciitis. I've been wearing the 1224 for over a month now, and have experienced no flare-ups. Compared to previous NB running shoes -I was wearing the NB 764s and have owned NB running shoes for over 10 years now...replacing every 9 months or so- this model is noticably lighter and fits really well. I would highly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not as good as previous model
I bought these as a replacement for the 1223 model, which I loved. While the fit is the same and I like they way they look, something is just off when I run in them. They are light and the width is perfect, but either my foot changed in the past year or something is different in this model that makes my feet hurt, pretty much right off the bat. I can still run in them,...

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy a FULL Size larger than normal, June 4, 2009

This review is from: New Balance Women's WR1224 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I've been a NB runner for years in this series- first 1221, then 1222. I skipped the 1223 and bought 1224 this year. Be wary on buying from the internet b/c the sizing on this shoe is different than previously. In both the 1221 and 1222, I was an 8. In this shoe, I'm a 9! I ordered the 8.5 and now I have to return it-- even that's too small. The toe box in particular seems a lot tighter than on previous shoes. So make sure to order the right size for you.

These shoes are great. One thing you may not know about New Balance is that the higher the number in the model number, the greater the support is. These are top of the line. If you have dealt with foot problems or injuries, you will certainly appreciate the support these offer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent "Athena" Running Shoes, April 24, 2009
This review is from: New Balance Women's WR1224 Running Shoe (Apparel)
If you're in the "Athena" category of women runners, this is an excellent running shoe for you. Most women's running shoes are designed to support a weight of no more than about 140-150 pounds. If you're over that weight (like a great percentage of the American public, since the US average female weight is 163 lbs!), then you'll want a shoe that is built a bit tougher. The stability design of this shoe, combined with the superb cushioning, makes it just about perfect.
The 1224 has more cushioning that most stability shoes that I have tried, and rides very well.
I've logged my first 100 miles on these shoes and they're holding up beautifully. They are a bit more in price, but I figure I'll be able to wear these through 400-500 miles, versus trading out at 300, so it's worth it to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally - A Fantastic Running Shoe!, August 15, 2009

This review is from: New Balance Women's WR1224 Running Shoe (Apparel)
I was skeptical at first, but one workout and I was convinced. I've gone through many shoes and this one does it all. It puts my Nike and Fila runners to shame. It fits a woman's foot as it should - a little wider in the toe-box and hugs the heal. I have had major foot surgery, a broken ankle, sprains, and more. The New Balance WR1224 provides ample cushioning support just where you need it most. Your ankle is supported and the ball of your foot is totally protected from impact. It's fantastic for ladies with sensitive feet. I would highly recommend this shoe to women for both running and high-impact aerobic workouts. The shoe is so comfortable it makes my cardio sessions easier to get through! I'm getting a second pair just so I can have an extra one on hand. A+++ for the WR1224 from New Balance.

Best shoe I've ever worn! Would recommend to anyone. Great arch support . When my feet hurt I wear them and the pain goes away. I've had them for a month and there was no break in with these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoe!, August 6, 2009
By
I've been wearing these for step aerobics and walking and they are very comfortable. I recommend sizing up a half size. I ordered my normal size 7 1/2 and my toes were squished, so returned and got size 8 (at a better price for the less popular color, I might add!) Size 8 initially felt a bit small on one shoe, but just barely. As I've worn them, the toe box has stretched out and they are very comfy!! I have plantar fasciitis and they seem to support my foot well. I ended up ordering 2 more pairs to rotate, as recommended by my podiatrist. They are discontinuing these because the newer model is coming out, so get these while you can at a great price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoe - check Nordstroms, June 9, 2009
This review is from: New Balance Women's WR1224 Running Shoe (Apparel)
Just bought this shoe and it fits great. I disagree with the person who says you have to buy a whole size larger. I bought my regular size and it fits fine. I have flat feet and overpronation and the support on this shoe is very good for me. I've been told that the amount of dark gray on the side/sole of the shoe indicates the amount of support and it seems to be true with this shoe.
BTW, check Nordstroms sale rack. I found them there on sale at $69.90 from $139.95. Good 50% deal.
