5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect!
I have flat feet & knee problems but I love running so picking out running shoes takes a lot of time. My favorite is New Balance 8505. This one compared to 8505s:

1. Slightly thinner bottom cushion. 8505 is better in this department. Average person may not notice the difference.
2. Better design/color combos.
3. Better looking mesh material...

I have a normal foot. I did a ton of research and comparisons for 2 months before I made the purchase. I needed new shoes because the shoes I was using had 200 miles of use and had started giving me knee pain. Based on the reviews on Amazon and the item being part of the Friday sale, I felt that the New Balances would be a safe choice for me. Upon arrival, I did like the...

1. Slightly thinner bottom cushion. 8505 is better in this department. Average person may not notice the difference.

3. Better looking mesh material.

4. Slimmer front. Fits average to narrow feet better. I like this one better than 8505s because it is snug.

5. Shorter Laces. No need to double tie laces which I like.

Overall great running shoes

I have a normal foot. I did a ton of research and comparisons for 2 months before I made the purchase. I needed new shoes because the shoes I was using had 200 miles of use and had started giving me knee pain. Based on the reviews on Amazon and the item being part of the Friday sale, I felt that the New Balances would be a safe choice for me. Upon arrival, I did like the look and lightness of it. Once it was on, I didn't like the long, unstableness of the shoe. I figured it would take a few days to get used to the fit which I did eventually. The problem for me occurred on the second day into wearing the shoe. I began to feel an ache in my shins but brushed it off hoping it would go away. A week later I noticed that I was now running with an overpronated stride and was still showing signs of pain.

I do regret making this purchase because I tend to buy cheaper shoes and hurt myself in the long run. I am still using these but only for my cardio workouts on a treadmill and an eliptical where it doesn't affect my shins.

I really like New Balance shoes, but have been a bit disappointed with these. While they look great and have plenty of cushioning, they are not really for running outdoors. The sole has lots of small gaps where pebbles are constantly getting stuck. And when you take them on a muddy trail, you'll have to carry around a lot of mud in the large gaps in the sole (which are there presumably to make the shoe lighter). If you're just walking or working out at the gym, they're probably fine, but I wouldn't recommended them for running in the great outdoors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Jogging/Running Shoes!, May 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These shoes are great for jogging/running. They're light, comfortable and true to size. Once you break into them (won't take long at all, and doesn't even need that much breaking into), the toe box expands some, thus more roomy and airy for the toes. These shoes look really cool, too. I purchased the green one. These shoes are advertised for underpronators. It has really helped compensate for underpronation. I've been on seven jogs/runs since my purchase and I have no complaints. These are the best jogging/running shoes I've owned so far.

I am an avid runner, have been for a while, and I think New Balance are a great brand if you're not trying to break the bank. I have gone through and worn out many a Nikes, I don't spend $100-200 on other expensive brands, so I think I will stay true to New Balance.

This shoes are great, but it did run a little big. I would maybe recommend going half a size down.. but better yet, try to find them at a retail store near you, try them on first, then buy them online if they're cheaper :-)
