Product Description

New Balance takes their Minimus line off-roading with the WT20 trail runner. Exceptionally lightweight and breathable, yet ruggedly capable where it counts, your every stride is as sure-footed as it is cool and ventilated. Offering great feel for the contours of the trail, this is a must for taking your heart-healthy cardio into the wild.

The New Balance Minimus WT20 Trail Running takes the proven versatile durability of a Vibram® outsole and combines it with a fitted, extremely minimalist upper that's comfortable with or without socks. This edition of the Minimus Trail features a modified upper on the same comfortable sole unit as its popular counterpart the WT10, creating a near-barefoot experience on the trail.. Color: Black + Pink

FIT: Designed to be worn barefoot, the Minimus shoes provide a tight fit and snug slipper-like feel. Many of our customers order a half size larger, especially when they intend to wear socks.

CAUTION: This product should be introduced slowly into a running exercise routine. New Balance recommends limiting initial use to 10% of overall running workouts and very gradually increasing time and distance.

    ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE SHOES!!!

Even though I'm no shoe or sneaker expert, I've purchased a fair share of them in my lifetime. I've never written a review for any shoes before now. I suppose it's because I've owned Converse, Puma, Nike and many other New Balance shoes before, but NONE even come close to the New Balance WT20 Trail Minimus shoes. Certainly these are the most comfortable sneakers I've ever worn, even though I've only owned them for exactly one week. I wish these shoes would've been available while I was in Army basic training.

Pros: Weight: very light shoe without compromising durability or support. Traction: Walking or running, traction is pretty nice. Fit: very comfortable, breathable material, cushions feet without crowding, also provides arch support. In my experience, low profile New Balance shoes can sometimes run a bit more narrow than usual so I purchased this shoe in WIDE. I'm very glad that I did. Sole: Cushions the impact while walking or running which is a huge plus for me. Shoelaces: Thin, non-slip laces are a plus. It keeps you from having to stop mid-run or mid-walk to tie your shoes over again. I was caught in a thunderstorm while wearing these shoes and because of how delicate the shoes feel, I was worried they'd get damaged. Not at all. The shoes and laces dried up quicker than I imagined and they looked just as new. These shoes are rugged without looking or feeling bulky. Not to mention that they look pretty great, too.

    Cons: None.

My only con about these shoes has nothing to do with the actual shoe itself, but the company. Just like many other sneaker companies, the amount of colors for women's shoes are limited.

First pair of shoes (athletic or otherwise) I have purchased that I've had no blisters or rubbing the first time I've worn them. I'm new to minimalist running so I only ran a mile in them and walked a mile-however that was enough to sell me on them. I have heard there's a band that cases them to run narrow-I have narrow feet so I can see how that might bother someone. One of the shoelaces was frayed but a five minute call to New Balance and they had replacements in the mail-not a minus for the shoe but a big plus to New Balance customer service. The are a little more light dove gray than white-they seem a lot brighter in the picture. I like the actual color better.

Hopefully more experienced minimalist runners will also rate these, however for me they feel fantastic. I could have ran five miles in them, no problem!

I bought these shoes for crossfit and they're amazing! They work great for the transition from weightlifting to running to lunges to whatever the trainers throw at us. They are comfortable and lightweight. I love them and highly recommend them to anyone doing crossfit.

I purchased these after my fiance had bought a men's pair. I've been wanting to try the minimalist running thing for a while but the 5 Finger shoes just creeped me out. lol I settled on these because not only are they good looking shoes (they look totally fine with jeans or yoga pants too!) but I've been wanting to get more into running. I started out slow in these (as is recommended) because it completely changes the way you're probably used to walking/running. I built up to do some trail running with the dogs and they are so great! I found the trails/paths easier to run on than pavement with these. If you're running correctly in them you should feel burn in your calves especially. For me I also felt it in my upper hamstrings and butt (woot!). I have been really happy with them and I've had them for about a month and a half. I highly recommend these as long as you're willing to start out a little slow because you can really mess up your tendons if you continue landing on your heel in these (there's virtually no cushioning). I will probably be buying another pair when I need it.

These run true to size and can be worn with or without socks. I wish the color selection for women was better though.

I've been running in nike frees for about a year and a half, and initially bought these as a supplementary shoe just for trail running.

I LOVE this shoe though-- and I run maybe 15 miles a week in it (the rest of my mileage I continue to log in my frees)--even on streets and sidewalks. It's a step closer to barefoot on the minimalist scale compared to a shoe like the free-- so, buyer beware you DO have to strengthen your calves/shins/ankles before you can rack up too many miles in them, or you risk stress fractures.

Overall, I love the NB WT20 because it's close-ish to a 5finger feel (it does have a vibram sole, which I like a lot), with the added appeal of not making me look like a major tool on my run (sorry 5finger lovers....)

As a quick sidenote, I'm also currently rehabbing a badly sprained ankle; I do wear a brace when I run in these (and my frees, for that matter). Shockingly, these shoes were the only shoes that haven't left my ankle in serious post-run pain.

Just got these babies a few days ago. It took a few days of just walking in them to get used to the feeling. I called a local shoe store to ask questions about these - and the guy (who's participated in the Boston Marathon, and who has these and the 'foot-shaped' shoes) told me to slowly build up to running in these. He said to walk in them, run 0.5 miles... and build from there. You see how your feet feel and judge your slow/gradual running pace from there. If you start off running miles and miles in these - you may not be able to walk the next day! After 4 days of wearing, my quads and calves feel tight (muscles working)!! I can definitely feel the muscles on the bottoms of my feet. The website recommends to get a 1/2 size larger if you plan to wear socks - but the guy at the shoe store told me that it wasn't necessary - that you need to wear super thin socks or no socks with these. I have a 7 1/2, wear the thin socks, and have no problems. I recommend to those that want to use these shoes in their running work-out regiment.
