This shoe is so well fitting. It has a wide toe box and fits well in the heel. Accomodates fairly thick socks and still very comfortable. Not at all tight. Feels true to the wide width. I bought these shoes to wear for after knee surgery. The light weight and streamline shape are more comfortable especially after surgery when one needs to be mindful of balance and walking carefully. Regular exercise shoes though comfortable seemed too clumsy. This shoe is great.lives up to the New balance name.

I have foot problems of various kinds, always wear full length orthotics, can only wear relatively soft lace up shoes.... there are really rather few shoes I can wear. The NB 811 has been my staple, but that leaves me with little choice but that athletic look. I had debated trying these and finally nabbed a pair when I realized they are no longer being made. Glad I did. They are the same last as the 811 (SL-2) and have a nice roomy toebox which I need. As wide as the 811 and higher. The sole is very stable and firm (does not flex much though as it wears out I suspect it will more). It has a soft padded heel counter. I can't comment on the arch support as I always wear orthotics. The wide opening on top accomodeates my high arch nicely. Though the construction is good and firm, the leather is also nice and soft. Nice shoes, in fact I am going to get another pair or two. I suppose this is an adequately decent looking casual shoe for many; you can judge that by the pictures. It is a much better sonstructed shoe than most casual shoes in the price range. For me it is heavenly to be able to wear a shoe that is not so athletic looking and actually comes in another color besides the typical choices of stone, black and white. Another reviewer commented on the embroidery; I do not find it a big detriment, but then since I have to wear clunky shoes like this with everything, skirts, whatever, that seems like a rather minor thing to me, hardly what I would call embarrassing. In fact I don't find it all that noticeable. I guess I'm saying I can't afford to be that picky, if you want a really well made casual shoe you might not care much either.

I have another pair of New Balance Women's Walking Shoes which I am very pleased with, so I assumed, correctly, that the WWW901 in black that I ordered would fit as well, but would look less like a sneaker which is a plus on certain occasions. I also need narrow shoes which are hard to find. New Balance offers a good selection of my size. These shoes provide comfort in walking and a wide toe area. New Balance was recommended by my Chiropracter, and I recommend them highly.

Since I wear a narrow width in a half size (9 1/2) AND want a larger toe box that does not restrict my toes, New Balance has offer a few good choices for me over the years. This time I tried the 901 Walking Shoe - love it! It is more comfortable to work in than any of the tennis shoe/running shoe I have worn before. I can't explain it! Simple shoe...really good results for me PLUS through Amazon, the price was half of what I would have paid normally. I am going to get a second pair in black if I can find it.

great product....made well, excellent cushion, has helped by back and hips heal from an accident.

Nice looking very light leather shoe that I wear to work with docker style pants. Molds comfortably to the foot and it is deep enough to fit my orthotic. I like the embroidery on the top. It does not have the ankle support though for a walking shoe and would be too casual for a more formal pants.

New Balance still makes the only walking shoes that I can wear (and I wish I had more choices from them!). This shoe fits me properly, but New Balance has stopped making supportive insoles; I have 10-year-old New Balance insoles from a previous pair of shoes that still have more arch support than their new insoles! Expect to buy your own insoles if you need arch support. The styling is casual and not at all chunky. The embroidery is embarrassing, though. It is not well done and on the sides it actually looks more like scuff marks, and it just looks tacky and out of place on this style of shoe.

These are the best walking shoes I've ever worn - I will be purchasing another pair soon. The fit is perfect and walking in them is a pleasure.

Shoes are as described. Have a cute embroidered detail to make them more feminine on the top near laces. Nice high toe box and smooth well padded interior.

I bought these shoes (2 pair) for my mother inlaw. They were a replacement for a pair of ww901's that were worn out. Overall, the quality was very acceptable (Chinese made) but compared to the older shoe (US. made), the new shoe didn't have much arch support, that was a little disappointing.
