5.0 out of 5 stars Awsome Shoes
I had debated spending this much on a walking shoe. These shoes are awesome!! They are lightweight and so comfortable to walk in. I bought them because of overpronation and weak ankles. These shoes help both problems. I would highly recommend them!

2.0 out of 5 stars Quality Control Problem- NB Women's WW977 Walking Shoe
I bought these hiking shoes in a size 11 narrow, but had to return them immediately. While the left foot was okay (although it was a little shorter than I'd like), the right foot was definitely too short. My toes hit the front when I put them on. Other people have also stated in the reviews they run short so consider ordering up a size. I think this particular pair...

5.0 out of 5 stars comfortable shoe, September 30, 2008

These shoes are very comfortable and water proof. It only took me three days to break them in and it wasn't unbearable,I simply had to wear a higher sock. Now I can even wear low socks with no discomfort. I highly recommend to people with fat feet like mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome boot for problem feet, January 20, 2010
This year I've tried 5-6 quality hiking boots and had to return all due to aching bunions. My shoe store recommended these boots. I returned first pair as they do run very short. I got a second pair one full size larger than I usually wear. The salesman also used a "bunion stretching" device to help the fit. The boots felt so good that I immediately wore them on a challenging 5-mile, mountainous hike and other hikes while vacationing in AZ. They were awesome -- excellent traction on rocks and steep grade, very good toe/heel protection, and superior comfort. The clean looks and Gore-Tex lining are a bonus if you love to hike despite problem feet!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a hiking shoe that comes in narrow sizes!, October 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I agree with the other customer who said, "Why the discrimination against people with narrow feet?" I have a pair of these boots in size 10 and a half AA, have worn them for a year, now am looking to buy another pair. I would buy all remaining pairs left in my size I can find on the internet if I could afford it. Vasque and other manufacturers have quit making narrow sized hiking boots, and some manufacturers put a "narrow" on the label but the last ( that's the footbed of the shoe) is not actually narrow. I have been wearing narrow shoes for over 50 years, so I know what I'm talking about.

I am a passionate hiker and backpacker. These boots are excellent for dayhiking, and pretty good for weekend backpacking. They might not hold up well for longer backpacking trips, or have enough support to carry that weight, but I am not sure, as I haven't used them for that. They are not made to last for years, but they are very comfortable for a light hiker, and I do want another pair! Plus, they look nice--they don't have all those silly strips of leather and cloth all over the place in different colors, they are just a standard leather color, which I prefer.

4.0 out of 5 stars flat feet, October 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I went to Swags (a local shoe store) and he sugggested this shoe for me because I have flat feet with very little arch. He sold them for $149.00 in his store. I found them on Amazon for $66.00. I had to go up a size and get a wider width. My feet feel great in them and they are waterproof because I work outside. I think I might order another pair. They do run small, so get a size larger.

I think this particular pair mixed an 11 in the left foot with a 10 in the right foot although they're both labeled as 11's.

1.0 out of 5 stars Size was not as expected, September 28, 2010

I have an old version of this walking boot from NB. I ordered the exact same size and width as my old comfy ones. The new pair are not sized correctly. It was supposed to be wide and it wasn't. Since the new shoes were too small I tried to exchange it for the next size up but the order was cancelled instead of exchanged. I won't try ordering this online again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most comfortable shoes I've ever worn!, September 16, 2010
To begin with, I have NEVER written a review about anything and these shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I am on my feet sometimes at work for 12 hours. If I try to wear any other shoes besides the New Balance 977 ladies walking shoes...at the end of my shift... my feet hurt. Yes they do run small. I normally wear an 8 1/2 and I ordered a 9. This is my second pair and will be ordering a third soon.

Definitely go with the other reviewers and buy 1/2 size larger.

I bought a 2E as I have a wide foot with the beginnings of a bunion on 1 foot. I first wore these around the house for a few hours before actually using them on a hike. On my right ankle there is a pressure point on the inside of the ankle just next to the ankle bone. I was a little worried about the actual fit and possible rubbing. I think this was specific to my shoe due to manufacturing as the left didn't have the same firm spot. I figured with use it'll soften up.

I used Montrail moldable inserts and wear neoprene ankle braces on both ankles, sock liners, and thick cool-max Thorlo hiking socks when I headed out for my first 6-miler hike. Shoes out the gate were comfortable with no hot spots or blistering. Just finished an 9 1/2 miler today in damp, humid conditions. The goretex worked beautifully and my feet stayed completely dry throughout the day. When I put all of my 'stuff' on my feet I thought it was a little snug, but my feet sailed through both hikes beautifully.

Highly recommend this shoe if you're looking for a wide, comfortable, lightish weight, goretex hiker.

4.0 out of 5 stars First women's athletic shoe I've owned!, August 26, 2010

I've worn men's athletic shoes since 1968. My feet were too big for PF Flyer "tennis" shoes and Keds "sneakers" at that point. Gratefully, athletic shoes were emerging and a men's size 10 was serviceable for me. Men's athletic shoes are generally too wide for me. I've had two pairs of Nike "court" shoes, targeted for indoor racquet sports, that fit me perfectly. Other than that, I've struggled with heel support and overall stability. This shoe is a dream in terms of support and stability, but as noted by others, runs a tiny bit short for me in the size 13AA. Note that I have never had a "short" size 13 on my feet ever!!! Another first. I wore the shoes to see if it would give; they didn't. They're not painful, but I worry about injury wearing a snug shoe for 4-5 mile walks 4-5 times a week might bring. I'm intending to order and try the 13M to see if they work. Otherwise, it's back to the men's department for me!
