The BEST intro for new and growing Christians,
By A Customer
This review is from: New Believer's Bible New Testament: NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
I cannot reccomend this book enough. It is an amazing study and a wonderful tool for growth in the faith. In fact, even if you have been a Christian for a long time it's still great - it's divided into sections that focus on particular areas of the faith. It's VERY readable. I seriously can't say enough. Get it. For yourself or in bulk for others. I've learned SO much from this Bible. I've grown so much thanks to its information and inspiring articles, devotions, and study guides. There are even random essays on "Big Questions" that deal with tough examinations of difficult topics in Christian theology. It's so great. I really hope that you get it. If you got the cash, spring for the entire New Believer's Bible. That has even more to offer in addition to the Old Testament. Don't feel like it's too basic for veterans either. EVERYONE can benefit from this WONDERFUL edition of God's Word!!!

This book is perfect to give to new Christians. Really! The translation is perfect for it, and in the front is a nice synopsis of what it truly is to be a Christian--what we believe and how to be saved. I'm already giving one away to a new Christian, and I plan to keep another one on hand for when I convert someone else! What a tool!

Amazingly easy to read and understand!,

This review is from: New Believer's Bible New Testament: NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
Knowing the NLT is translated from the original instead of another opinion of KJV is so refreshing. The writers obviously did an excellant job of research as well as seeking the Lord. Many blessings upon all of you guys.

Wonderful New Believers Bible!!!,
By S. "Theatre in Me" (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Believer's Bible New Testament: NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
This is a great Bible to give to New Believers or Old ones who don't know much about the Bible. It is small enough to carry around and Greg Laurie does a great job explaining things and giving the salvation message in the beginning. Great to have extras at home to give out when you see a need.

New Believers NLT Bible Personal size,

This review is from: New Believer's Bible New Testament: NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
Size is convenient but the size requires the font size to be very small. Makes it hard for old eyes to read. Also the text is crowded on each page toward the binding. This makes you force the book open to see the words closest to the binding. NLT text is an easy to read and understand edition. I gave this bible to my 25 year old son and his girl friend took it from him for herself. The NLT translation is ideal for the young people of today.

Outstanding Bible for the work I do with youth in Prison here in Texas. I gave this book to someone who really wanted it and who promised to read it (he did read it, and it helped change his life!!!!). I bought several of these -- gave them all away. Great gift item. But how can you go wrong giving God's Word to a person dealing with great trouble in their life?

Not what I expected,

This review is from: New Believer's Bible New Testament: NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
These bibles come in two sizes, a pocket version and a larger version. I was expecting the larger version and received the pocket-sized edition. I had to send them back.

New Believer's Bible,
By
This review is from: New Believer's Bible New Testament: NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
A Pastor gave me a New Believer's New Testement just after I was born again. First, the high points: the plan of salvation is made very clear in a section at the beginning of this Bible, as are the basics of starting a new life in Christ. Also helpful are the commentaries. Most of them, anyway. There are a few commentaries which I felt more or less explained away or watered down an issue, rather than actually getting to the heart of it. E g, the commentators thoughts on divorce and what the New Testement says about the accumilation of wealth. In actuality, the teachings of Jesus raised the standard of divorce to the extent that any divorce and remarriage situation is now regarded by God as adultery, except in the case of a man divorcing his BETROTHED wife on account fornication. (Study Jewish customs if in doubt). It seemed also as though the warnings against continuing in sin after being born again were a bit mild. "You can't have a sweet, close relationship with the Lord if you do not ask forgiveness when you sin," or things like that is what the commentator says. I prefer the good old King James, "Know ye not that the unrigheous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?" Doesn't that sound great? It has punch to it, I think. Lastly, the inclusive gender pronouns are tedious to me. I am a woman, but the "male bias" of some other translations have never bothered me. At best, neuteral gender pronouns interupt the flow. At worst, they distort the meaning in certain passages. I would reccomend this as a companion Bible with perhaps the King James. Sometimes newer versions shed light on a verse from a different angle, and that is always great.

When I received this book, it was even smaller than that posted on the site. The type is tiny and difficult to read. Other than that its pretty good.
