2.0 out of 5 stars Strictly 80's
I ordered two copies of this video, one for myself and one for a gift. After viewing my copy, I promptly asked Amazon if I could return both of them. Unlike the great 30-minute workouts Gilad has on television, this video was made back in the 80's and is a string of workouts lasting 70 minutes long. There is no use of free weights, and the exercises are all dated -- lots...

5.0 out of 5 stars Power workout!!, January 28, 2002
This review is from: New Best of Bodies in Motion [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is one of my favorite workout videos, mostly because of the power aerobics. You really get your heart rate up and sweat, and you can modify the moves to make it more or less intense. Some have criticized the short breaks between segments because you lose your momentum, but who's stopping you from running in place during those short breaks?

I should add that this is one of the toughest workout videos I own, and I have about 20 of them. You need alot of time to do it, but you really see results fast. I have nice abs and got rid of my flabby arms thanks to this video. Also all my clothes are loose since I've been doing this video regularly. I usually do this video 2-3 times a week, then less intense videos on other days, and run or bike on the weekends. Anyway, it's given me confidence, a slim figure, and cardiac endurance. I couldn't finish this video when I first got it, but now I can go start to finish without stopping, and sometimes I run in place when the people on the video are just marching.

The moves are '80's inspired for sure, but getting a tough cardiac workout is just what chubby Americans need, even if it's out of style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aerobics & total body toning, April 18, 2001
By

This review is from: New Best of Bodies in Motion [VHS] (VHS Tape)
New Best of Bodies in Motion starts off with some upper body toning segments from several different workouts then there is 25 min. of interval aerobics, again pieced together from several different workouts, it's enough to get the heart rate up and get a good sweat going, then you end with 3 ab segments concentrating on lower abs, upper abs and obliques as well as some leg lifts for a total 20 min. floor toning. Some may be bothered by the way different segments have been pieced together to make this video, but I thought it was entertaining the way that Gilad flies you in his plane and tells you where you're going and what's coming up next. Whatever aerobic move he left off on simply keep it going until the next segment starts so that you don't lose momentum and keep the heart rate up. You can add light weights to the upper body segments if you wish. You get your whole workout done in a little over an hour. As always, Gilad gives excellent instruction on form for all of the toning exercises so you'll be sure to get the most out of every rep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super workout video!, January 14, 2003
By
This review is from: New Best of Bodies in Motion [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love this full-hour exercise video and would recommend it to anyone. This is the first video I've tried, and I would say people at any fitness level could benefit from it. The workout team on the video features both women and men--in excellent shape--which makes the viewer want to get in shape! Gilad Janklowicz is enthusiastic and funny! He reinforces how important it is to "NEVER SIT DOWN", to keep moving ("return to the marching position if the workout gets too difficult"), and to "workout only to the point of your limitation, and never to pain".

Normally I power-walk (with sprints of running) for 45 minutes everyday. Well, now it's winter and hard to get outside so I decided to try this video.

It starts out with a warmup and then works the arm and chest muscles. Next is a 25 minute cardiovascular workout, complete with low- and high-impact aerobics. The moves are fun and don't get boring, as Gilad switches the moves around. This section really gets the blood pumping and the sweat glands going!

The next section works the upper and lower abs, along with the obliques. Then we work the leg muscles (there is a really funny part here: after the leg muscle is really burning and we are done with that leg, he slaps his leg and goes "WHEW!" and the guy behind him laughs!) and the buttocks. Following is a relaxing cooldown/stretching section.

After the first day, I woke up in the morning and felt it in my calves when I got out of bed--my calves were really tight and sore--but in a good way. That was enough for me to know that this workout video is excellent! With all the power-walking I'm used to, I never felt I worked all my muscle groups. Gilad doesn't miss a single one!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Gilad!! where are you?, October 19, 1999

I always get a great workout using gilads tapes. I first started doing Gilads excercises when his show, Bodies in Motion was in sindication on ESPN back in the early 90's. I used to really like that show not just for the excercise, but also for the humor and the positive attitute of Gilad and the cast. Also it was filmed in Hawaii, so the scenery was magnificent. Over the years Gilad has helped me to reshape my body and outlook on exercise and fitness. Even though the show is no longer, I still pop Gilads tapes in when I want to feel good and get a great workout. If your serious about losing weight, Gilads tapes will help you in achieving any weightloss goal.

Bodies in motion with Gilad was a staple in my excercise diet in the late eighties- early ninetees. In the past ten years, I have had the priviledge to work with a trainer, I've done kick-boxing, and weight lifting, run in 5K's, and other races, and yet, very recently decided just for nostalgia to go back and try this tape which is a compilation of Gilad's best workouts. Let me tell you- this really proves itself in results. In two weeks I felt more fit than I have in years, I have received more compliments, and I have had fun doing it. I feel like I have been reunited with an old friend. If you have never worked out with Gilad, afford yourself the priviledge.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Rate, April 28, 2000

Usually when Spring Break comes I sit around and watch TV. I always think to myself in the back of my mind that I'm putting on wieght. Desperate to get up and do something, I popped in the Gilad workout video which was bought...I dunno how many years ago. I put it in and I am magically transported to stunning Hawaiin vistas. The beat-heavy music motivates me to keep up and for the next hour I am on my own fitness "journey." I have been working out on this video for only three days now and I am already feeling the benefits. I couldn't keep up with everything, on the first day, but so what? What did I do? I went back to a walk in place, of course. I think the best aspect of this video is that Gil keeps reminding you to work at your own pace, don't put "demands on your body that you cannot meet." Gil always tells us the correct positions so we won't strain anything. Workout with this video and you will sweat, your heart will beat faster, and you will feel it!

I loved "Bodies In Motion" when it was on ESPN in the late 1980's. Gilad does not follow fads and is very motivational without being annoying. He using great cueing and great technique throughout all the exercises. This is the best workout ever. It never gets boring. Taped in beautiful Hawaii!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not easy, May 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: New Best of Bodies in Motion [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I thoroughly enjoy this challenging tape. It is not easy, by any means. I work out daily using different tapes by different instructors (Jane Fonda, Cher, etc.) but this has got to be my favorite. I thought I was in semi-good shape until I tried this one. I admit that the first time I tried it, I only got 1/2 way through the aerobics.... I was so tired I was panting. The next time I made it to the end of aerobics but didn't get to the abs, thighs etc. Just recently I finally finished the entire tape without quitting which was after 4 tries. Gilad makes it enjoyable with his 8 more times, don't sit, come on you can do it... not to mention the fact that he's not hard on the eyes. He does say to stay at your own pace and march in place when you get tired. It's a challenge and I can't wait to try his other tapes.

I *love* the Gilad shows on TV -- he is wonderfully motivating, he works hard, and everyone seems to be having a good time. I've been working out to his videos for 3 years and I recommend him highly.
