The positives: - It looks nice - It can take a beating. My son has been ramming it against the wall at full speed, driving it off every piece of furniture in the house, and it's taken the plunge of death down the stairs at least once. Somehow it's still in one piece. The bad: - The front tires only turn to either side about a 1/4 inch, so it makes very wide turns. - Remote control feels very cheap and the steering control seems finicky. - Expect to charge your batteries every night This is the first R/C car I've purchased so I'm not sure what kind of value it is or how it compares to others. This toy would be a lot more fun if it could make sharper turns. It's hard to use inside.

Looking at other reviews for New Bright R/C products, I was hesitant to purchase this for my six year old son's birthday; however, I got it on sale at TRU for $22, so I gambled. It's his first R/C vehicle, and it took him no time to coordinate his left and right thumbs to zoom this around.
It comes with a NiMH battery, which is eco-friendly and provides for a longer run time, albeit roughly 20 minutes per charge. It's lightweight but has sustained repeated crashes with no ill effects, likely due to the fact it doesn't go very fast. This might be the deal breaker for those with older children who fancy a swift R/C vehicle they can also take off road. With limited torque and a wide turning radius, this is really intended for bare floors and sidewalk cruising only, making it perfect for elementary aged children just learning R/C basics. Recommended, but for the younger set.

My Grandson likes this truck, however my Sister and Brother in law gave him a hummer truck for his birthday which was made by the same manufacturer. I tried to have races with him and the freq. between the two are close enough to the same they interfere with each other not allowing them to operate at the same time.
One of the mirrors was broken off the first time he ran the truck, there is no rechargeable battery with this, it takes a lot of double A batteries. I would not by another from this manufacturer.

Product description is wrong! There is no battery pack! This makes things alot more difficult. I want to send it back but my boys just want to start playing so I am probably stuck trying to keep up on 7 AA batteries!

I bought this truck for $25 elsewhere just a few days ago. At first, it ran crappy and didn't turn to the right, but I remembered the instruction manual on how Alkaline batteries work best for the truck, and I had Energizer batteries in them, so I switched to Alkaline and saw a HUGE difference! The speed just about doubled, it seems to do sharp turns just out of the way of incoming traffic, and it even handled the sheet of snow and ice behind my apartment in the parking area. It's durability is also first-rate. A few times, it would hit a crack in the sidewalk at full speed, flip over, and roll over and over onto it's side, but there is no visible damage and the truck just keeps going afterwards.
I am 25 years old and this is my first remote-control vehicle. Just decided to get into the game! A little info about this truck, since I had tested it several times over the past few days before doing this review. Whether you buy rechargeable AA batteries or regular ones, you get the same result, as the truck will run for 40 or 45 minutes nonstop before it needs a new charge or more batteries. The range on the truck is 100 feet within remote control range, as the box and the manual says, but I've actually stayed at the door of my apartment and drove the truck all the way to the end of the street and back, and the end of the street is more than 100 feet away, closer to 150. I haven't tested the truck beyond that, but it's safe to say that the truck has a good operating range past a hundred feet, as long as you're within sight of the vehicle. As a first vehicle for a first-timer, the New Bright F150 truck with extra large wheels met quite to my satisfaction! Of course, it doesn't run on grass well, and the remote can link up with other vehicles, but I give it 5 stars! |
