My son received this car as a gift. We've gotten better charging than the other reviewer. It takes four hours of charge time for 20 minutes of run time - and that has stayed consistent for a few months now. It's a good lesson to the kids in why everything isn't run by solar power - 4 hours charging for 20 minutes of play. The good thing about the run time is that it keeps it feeling "new" to them because they can't drive it until they're bored. I have three small boys vying for time with it. They really have to take turns by day because of the short battery life. It's also a good lesson in thinking ahead (you have to remember to charge it if you want to play with it later in the day - and you have to remember to bring it back inside after charging!) I wouldn't recommend running it outside - it's pretty thin plastic (but it is flexible and will withstand bumps). We didn't buy the car, but the kids really do enjoy it.

This solar-powered car is pretty neat, in that it has a lot of pep, and runs on the sun's energy. However, one has to charge it in DIRECT sunlight for a very long time (up to 4 hours) in order to derive any real enjoyment out of it; this can be an excruciating experience for a small child who wants to play with the toy NOW. I guess that this product teaches patience and gives a lesson in energy conservation, but try to effectively convey this to a 4 year old. The car handles well, and is typical of higher-end remote control toy cars out there. The car is lightweight, with a flimsy body. Overall, I think the car is decent.

This toy never even worked one time. That is completely unacceptable. We had it outside all day in the brightest sun and it did NOTHING. We returned it got a second one and same thing.I dislike marketing scams like this. They know this toy was junk, but released it anyway. Shame on this toy company.
