As for the bulk of the book, it's about attending business network groups and doing PR work, connecting, offering insight and help, and selling yourself. If you attend even one, you can meet and greet dozens of people and find out about their services, their products, and hand out your business cards and arrange for coffee together if you meet important contacts. You might not need a $10 Kindle book to do that. Sorry, based on the high price, lack of new information, and the fact that nearly 30% of the book is the index and the first chapter about what the author is going to discuss in the book, I have to rate this as a two-star read for all but networking beginners.
A high point of this book was the chapter on hosting your own events - as the director of a new project NashvilleGeekLife.com (which focuses on event coverage and community networking for local geek culture), I was feeling a bit overwhelmed on how to go about creating events for the sheer purpose of encouraging people to come out and network with each other, and since reading this book I have not only hosted my own successful events, but have easily encouraged others to, as well.
A++ book for anyone who is looking to get better at networking and building relationships with people, companies and other organizations.

Dave does an excellent job of going through the plethora of social media platforms from LinkedIn, to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, everything and relating back to the ultimate goal of really connecting with people and eventually meeting them in person. He constantly reminds the reader that networking’s ultimate goal is to meet people face to face and build real relationships. My favorite line of the book is “Networking is work!”. True that! Going to Meetup’s and trying to connect with people on social media is not a frivolous activity, but you have to do it intentionally and in the right way. That is where this book really helped me. I understand now that you do not have to be on every social media platform and they all have different and sometimes overlapping audiences. With that insight, the social media world does not seem so daunting and I can identify the 3-4 platforms that I think will work best for my purposes.
This is also not exclusively about social media. Dave covers business cards and designs and when to use them, hosting live events, and even a little section on networking for introverts. All in all, it is a great book for anyone looking to network and build relationships or just make new friends. It is good for college students, working professionals, business builders or even stay at home parents. Love this book.
