2.0 out of 5 stars Upset my stomach
I bought this brand because it contained the 'full spectrum' of all the ingredients in turmeric. The pills are somewhat large but not so big I couldnt swallow them. Ive seen other, smaller capsules but they may have been a smaller dosage. It says to take 1 softgel daily, which is a little more convenient then some others that require 3+ capsules daily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Digestive Supplement #1, January 25, 2005
By
relaxinjaxin (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
I suffer from a digestive disorder called crohn's disease (that is symptomatic of inflammation of the gut from the mouth to the anus), and as you could immagine it comes with all sorts of discomforting problems. I started using this product a few weeks ago, and I can't really say that I have noticed a benefit right now because I was in remmission and unsymptomatic before I started taking it, but I remain stable. The benifits are amazing. I just hope this will help my body find and remain in a stable state. From what I've read in the literature this product can only help.

Here is some basic information I found online:

Description
Curcuma longa, commonly known as Turmeric is a close relative to Ginger and is used as dye and cooking spice in India and other Asian countries. It has been used in traditional medicine for the treatment of jaundice and other liver ailments, ulcers, parasitic infections, various skin diseases, sprains, strains, bruises, inflammation of the joints, cold and flu symptoms, preserving food, and promoting digestion. The inhalation of smoke from burning Turmeric is said to relieve hysterical fits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome for uveitis, August 31, 2010
I used this product for a flare-up of a chronic eye disease called uveitis. It's the inflammation of the uvea. For the past 18 years, my occasional, yet painful flares have only been successfully treated by steriod eye drops. I recently learned of tumeric. For some reason my inflammation last spring did not respond to the eye drops. I tried tumeric after stumbling on it in a google search. In less than 3 weeks, my symptoms were completely gone and I was off the eye drops. I have never experienced a remission as rapid. I only took 3 pills per day. After speaking to a rep in Vitamin Shoppe, I learned that all brands are not created equal. New Chapter apparently has a unique extraction process that makes it more potent. Of course amazon has the best prices!

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, December 12, 2011

I take Turmericforce for two reasons. First, I've read that turmeric may be preventative against Alzheimer's disease, since people from India, who eat lots of curry containing turmeric, have much lower rates of Alzheimer's than people from Western countries. Second, I've had low grade prostate cancer for two and a half years and Dr Aaron Katz, in his 2006 and 2011 books on prostate disease (available on Amazon), recommends that men who are undergoing watchful waiting for their prostate cancer take Turmericforce, Zyflamend, New Chapter Holy Basil and New Chapter Chinese Skullcap (plus other supplements) daily as possible chemo-preventatives against progression of the cancer. I've followed Katz's advice since I was diagnosed, and my last two biopsies were negative and my PSA has been stable, so far. For these reasons, I recommend Turmericforce.

2.0 out of 5 stars Upset my stomach, November 12, 2010

I bought this brand because it contained the 'full spectrum' of all the ingredients in turmeric. The pills are somewhat large but not so big I couldnt swallow them. Ive seen other, smaller capsules but they may have been a smaller dosage. It says to take 1 softgel daily, which is a little more convenient then some others that require 3+ capsules daily.

These pills gave me diarrhea for over a day.. ive tried it twice several days apart and each time I got really bad diarrhea, so im pretty sure it was the turmeric. Its a little ironic - turmeric supposedly helps stomach upsets! I have crohns disease and wanted to take these for the supposed anti inflammatory / stomach soothing effects.

If you want to take turmeric, this might be a good choice, but be wary of stomach upsets and take it in the middle of a large meal, like the directions say. Also, this is a little more expensive then other brands.

Im not sure if turmeric really works, but if you can tolerate these, then New Chapter is a good brand. I dont doubt the quality of this product, it just didnt work out for me. Also keep in mind that while turmeric is a popular herb, there have not been any conclusive scientific studies showing any benefit of turmeric.

Since I started taking turmeric I've been able to cut my ibuprofen use by about 75%. I'm in my mid 60's and my problem was general inflammation in my joints and neck. Ibuprofen used to help but I was worried about the side affects so I decided to try the turmeric. I took two caps a day for the first two months but now I'm down to one a day. It did take a good month before I started to notice an improvement. They say it has other health benefits beside fighting inflammation but I can't vouch for that. However, it has noticeably helped my joint and neck pain. This is the brand my co-op sells and it's the only one I've tried. Much cheaper to buy it through Amazon then at a store though. I would highly recommend it as a safe alternative treatment for inflammation.

3.0 out of 5 stars New Chapter Tumeric Force Reaction, June 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't feel as if this review is fair due to the fact that I bought it for my arthritis and had a reaction. I take Zyflamend and it works, so I thought I would try this too. I took 1 pill and I was sick within 3 hours with a very upset stomach and constipation. I have diverticulitis also, so this was not a good product for me to use at all. Because of the potency of the herb, my suggestion is to try a sample first. I eat spicy foods a lot, so I figured I would be fine with it. I found a co-worker that takes Tumeric so I gave it to him. But, I am sure if it did not affect me in that way, I would be giving it 5 stars...Everyone's body is different.

Do the research on the spice Turmeric , then do your body a favor. Take it daily, and use a product from a very reputable maker of pure supplements, New Chapter.
