In the current political environment, there is considerable talk about "security" moms. I believe all mothers are "security" moms. Regardless of political affiliations, religions, or cultures, all parents want to keep their children safe. As a mom myself, watching the unfolding horrors of September 11, I wondered what I could do to protect my own family. Now that I have watched "The New Civil Defense: Survival Basics," I know the steps to take. While I don't like to contemplate the unthinkable results of a terrorist attack, as a parent I believe it is my responsibility to be prepared.

"The New Civil Defense: Survival Basics" and the accompanying manual present expert counsel that will allow you to safeguard your family in all types of disaster situations. The presentation is affable, easily understood, and most importantly, it imparts crucial information in a practical way. This is an essential guide for all parents!!!

"The New Civil Defense: Survival Basics" gives the much needed and overdue basics on how to survive in a chemical or biological environment. Experts give sound/proven advise and demonstrations on how you can help protect yourself and others during an attack. Thanks to Richarson Productions for creating this fantastic product......A MUST HAVE!!!

"The New Civil Defense: Survival Basics" DVD and accompanying manual contradicts for the everyday person, the notion that a nuclear or biological or chemical disaster is not survivable. The primary message is that whether these events are caused by terrorist attack, industrial accident, or some other unfortunate event, individuals who are armed with this basic information stand a very good chance of surviving intact to enjoy the days following the disaster.

Anyone who is charged with the well being of another, including parents, employers, education professionals, and many others will find this important information presented in plain language that is immediately helpful. The presentation assumes the viewer/reader has no prior knowledge of civil defense, medical, or emergency issues. It empowers us by explaining how ordinary household supplies can be combined with some easily purchased specialty items to vastly enhance our chances for personal survival. The presenters explain the importance of advance planning and suggest specific steps that can be taken to better insure that family members are able to maintain communication and find one another in case of separation. Part of this advance preparation is deciding what to keep on hand in case of an emergency. As stated by one of the presenters in this DVD, "any first aid kit is better than no first aid kit", but the directions provided for creating the relatively simple emergency survival kit detailed in this presentation is by itself well worth the cost of the DVD.

I hope I never need this information. I am certainly not the person I would choose to take command of a disastrous situation. Faced with a catastrophe I would always hope that smarter and more courageous individuals are present to ensure that my family and I survive. But the odds are that if the awful event comes, at least in the first few minutes and hours, our ability to survive will depend on the knowledge we ourselves possess and the preparation we ourselves have done. Toward that end, I cannot too highly recommend "The New Civil Defense: Survival Basics".
