Book Description

9 and up4 and up
From the author of the popular Heartland books comes a smart, sassy series set at an exclusive, all-girls boarding school in Virginia, where horses--and status--mean everything.

Welcome to Chestnut Hill, a prestigious boarding school with a rich tradition of academics, horses, and rivalry. This year, five girls from different backgrounds will challenge the Chestnut Hill stereotype. There's witty, spunky Dylan; secretive Malory; western tomboy Lani; Honey, the soft-spoken Brit; and polished New Yorker Razina. None is prepared for the social or riding rigors, and they all doubt they will fit in -- certainly not if queen bee Lynsey and her clique have any say. But if this unlikely fivesome can band together, they may prove themselves the true stars of Chestnut Hill.

5.0 out of 5 stars The New Class, September 12, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The New Class (Chestnut Hill, Book 1) (Paperback)
I loved it. It tied in Amy and Spindle. It was a very well though out book and I enjoyed reading it. The horses all sound beautiful, although did anyone else notice that they were all 14-15 hands and either chestnut or gray? The book is very detailed and fun to read.
I'm looking forward to the next ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars The New Class, September 1, 2005

This review is from: The New Class (Chestnut Hill, Book 1) (Paperback)
About the book- Chestnut Hill is a boarding school for 7-12 grade girls. It lies in the hills of Virgina, close to Lauren Brooke's previous series, Heartland. We are first introduced to a 7th grade girl, Dylan Walsh. She is moving to the boarding school, after years of begging to go to the prestigous school. She meets several other girls while she's there. They all have one common goal: to make the Equestrain riding team. This creates some problems between them, of course. Dlyan is banned from the barn, and she becomes worried about making the team. Dlyan is running out of time. Will she clean up her act in time for the tryouts? Or will her training be a complete waste of time?

My opinion- Great new series! Heartland was tied into it, so it was really nice. We got to hear how Amy was doing, and her horse Spindleberry. I think this series will be excellent! So far so good! Another thing I liked was the fact that these books are longer than Heartland. This has about 220 pages (I think) while heartland never reached 200. All the more to love about it! I recommend it to horse lovers, and of course anyone who followed the Heartland series!

3.0 out of 5 stars it was ok, July 14, 2006
This review is from: The New Class (Chestnut Hill, Book 1) (Paperback)
(If you want Luaren Brooke to continue the Heartland series past #20 say that my review helped you. Please.)

Chestnut Hill was an OK series. But it really isn't for me. It concentrates too much on school and boys. The Heartland Series is SOOOO much better.

The Heartland Series is one of the best books that I've ever read. It is the story of a girl, Amy, and her happiness and troubles on her farm Heartland. Her mother dies in a car accident while trying to save a horse. Amy if left injured in the hospital. Once she recovers from her injureies she relizes that she was the one who caused her mother's accident. She refuses to come out from her room and see her friends and family. In order to try and get Amy back into life again her friends throw her a party. I won't tell you anything else because that would ruin the fun of reading it. But take my word for it and read this series.

The books are:
#1 Coming Home
#2 After the Storm
#3 Breaking Free
#4 Taking Chances
#5 Come What May
#6 One Day You'll Know
#7 Out of the Darkness
#8 Thicker Than Water
#9 Every New Day
#10 Tomorrow's Promise
#11 True Enough
#12 Sooner or Later
#13 Darkest Hour
#14 Everything Changes
#15 Love is a Gift
#16 Holding Fast
#17 A Season of Hope
#18 New Beginnings
#19 From This Day On
#20 Always There
Special: A Holiday Memory
