Review

“He certainly makes you question your own beliefs and makes you think of things you’ve never even entertained before. I recommend it!” (Monica P., Book Bargains and Previews, December 2011)

“Examining new findings in quantum physics and quantum biology on the interconnectivity of all life, as well as opportunities for us to reawaken our slumbering souls, this book offers a glimpse into the new global society to come, a renewed humanity for the 21st century, and how each of us can best participate during the process of planetary transformation.” (Aznet, January 2012)

“This book is for anyone who wants to be in touch with the reality at hand and at the same time see the silver lining waiting for those of us who are prepared.” (Rahasya Poe, Lotus Guide April 2012)

New Consciousness for a New World is a penetrating exploration of the potential for a new human civilization and consciousness to blossom during this time of profound global transition.” (Duane Elgin, author of The Living Universe and Voluntary Simplicity)

“Dennis has provided a great service by turning his considered and considerable attention to illuminating the way forward for humanity’s evolutionary journey.” (Julie Clayton, New Consciousness Review, November 2011)

“Dennis penetrates the deep forces shaping our natural and social realities, noting that phenomena such as large cracks in Earth’s electromagnetic field; increasing solar radiation; DNA hypercommunication (data exchange on the DNA level using genetic code); and quantum coherence in biological organization portend an evolutionary “upgrade” already underway...With a steady focus on the positive potential for a new global society, Dennis maintains that participating in this transition relies on one foundational insight: the ultimate interconnection and interdependence of everything in a living field with a creative collective consciousness.” (Publishers Weekly, November 2011)

SPIRITUALITY / NEW THOUGHT

New Consciousness for a New World is a penetrating exploration of the potential for a new human civilization and consciousness to blossom during this time of profound global transition.”
--Duane Elgin, author of The Living Universe and Voluntary Simplicity

For centuries, indigenous wisdom traditions have talked of an epochal shift on the horizon, of a spiritual renaissance for Earth and her living family. Now the timelines are converging and the potential for an energetic “upgrade” for humanity is here, but first we must survive and evolve through the current period of transition.

Explaining that evolution is not a gradual process but more like a “shock to the system”--radical waves of transformation after a period of dormancy--author Kingsley Dennis reveals that we are currently undergoing an evolutionary leap and shows not only how to survive but also thrive in this period of global upheaval and change. Examining the nature of evolutionary cycles, he explains that the instability we are now experiencing--climate change, economic meltdowns, and increasing political polarization--is the convergence of complex systems that have reached a critical state. What we need in order to push through to the coming spiritual renaissance is a paradigm shift in human thinking and perception, a conscious evolution in recognition of the interconnectedness of all things--a new mind for a new world. Examining new findings in quantum physics and quantum biology on the interconnectivity of all life as well as opportunities for us to reawaken our slumbering souls, this book offers a glimpse of the new global society to come, a renewed humanity for the 21st century, and how each of us can best participate during the process of planetary transformation.

KINGSLEY L. DENNIS, Ph.D., is a sociologist, writer, and cofounder of WorldShift International. The author of numerous articles on complexity theory, technologies, new media communications, and consciousness, he spends his time between Andalusia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

By Barbara Smith Stoff

While writing of how whole systems undergo change and evolution, and with an eloquent foreword by Ervin Laszlo who is often considered the "father" of systems science and change, Dr. Dennis writes comprehensively of what he terms the `spiral of cultural history' with an extensive overview of the nature of evolutionary cycles, paradigm shifts, planetary transformation, quantum physics, quantum biology and the interconnectivity of all life--all of which he does from the informed stance of the sociologist. As well, he is author of numerous writings on complexity theory, technologies, new media communications and consciousness.

As I read, and reread, this densely packed book, with its close inspection of the oldest, deepest and most currently prevalent and historically observable cycles in what we might call the universe--the thought that these are CYCLES is comforting!

He now addresses the urgent need to focus upon the evolution of consciousness and specifically upon our need as individuals to focus our moment to moment choices upon evolving our consciousness in a benevolent way.

For me the all important fulcrum point of the book revolves around his own long time thoughts about humankind, and especially individual persons, being transducers and grounders of energy vibrations into the planet and into the universe. It seems to me that his entire book itself does just that very thing.

As he says, "The spiral of cultural history involves a complex interplay of various cycles and systems; of social systems, energy systems, and communication revolutions -- all co-dependent and integral," I begin to think of Teilhard de Chardin envisioning the future as he looks at a fossil, and I begin to think of augers and gyres and the poetry of Yeats, and about the healing of old ancestral wounds. I think the more conscious the decision within any moment, the more it affects the future.

"How we think affects everything around us" is hardly groundbreaking news. Rarely, however, are we presented with such a lucid panorama of how our thoughts and deeds exist within a cosmological framework--as "mutually entangled creative energies," to borrow language from the behavior of quantum objects-- as we are given in this book.

In a nutshell, New Consciousness for a New World looks at how the evolution of consciousness, that is, the long ascent of species transformation that manifests within vast and complex systems and mechanisms, periodically experiences a confluence of events which incurs leaps of evolution, epochal moments when flux and chaos signal an imminent reorder. Dennis peers deeply into the disturbances and convergences currently shaping our natural world and social realities, --such as large cracks in Earth's magnetic field, increased solar radiation and how it is impacting biological nervous systems, DNA hypercommunication, and quantum resonance-- pointing out that these are indicators of an evolutionary leap of transformation already upon us. He provides compelling insight and reasoning to understanding these larger movements and how they are relevant to us individually and collectively.

Conscious evolution, he explains, is not quite the same thing as the evolution of consciousness: it is the active participation of human beings within these larger evolutionary processes. Only a conscious and participatory shift in human thinking, recognizing "the inherent connection between all living things and the cosmos" will suffice as an appropriate response to the deep complexity of the transitions occurring.

This book has served not only to inform me, but more importantly to inspire me. It was easy to read while at the same time being sufficiently scholarly to provide accurate and vital information regarding how to make this "a world that works for all." I'm now incorporating parts of the book in my lectures on the new sciences and personal transformation. I highly recommend this book for people beginning to explore "the shift of ages," and for experts in the field.
