This ccobook has very simple, easy to prepare meals. ALL the ingredients are things you would find in a normal pantry. Not items that need to be purchased at specilaty stores. EXCELENT!

This book helps you to understand all the food exchanges and how they play a part of your diet. The recipes I have tried have been wonderful and my family has enjoyed every meal I have fixed.

My favorite cookbook,

This is my favorite diabetic cookbook. My response to the unfavorable review about the portion size is that you have to adjust your eating habits to less meat and more starch and vegetables. You don't have to go hungry!

a disappointment,

I was very disappointed in this book. The portion sizes are very small. I certainly could not satisfy anyone in my family with a half cup of beef stir fry (noted as the serving size for this receipe). The receipes were good but you must figure on two serving sizes for each person for most main dish receipes. Explanations of food exchanges was very helpful.

I purchased this cookbook in 1988, when my husband first found out he was diabetic type II. Over the years, I have probably prepared almost all of the recipes in it. My 1988 version is worn and torn, so I am ordering this newer version. My hubby's 2 faves are "Enchilada Pie" and "Pork Chops with Apples". Yum, yum! I highly recommend this cookbook for the beginner. The recipes are easy to follow and you don't have to go to any specialty stores to find the ingredients (this is a big problem for me with a lot of diabetic cookbooks that require ingredients not found at my grocery store. there are no specialty stores in my area). To satisfy his sweet tooth, there are several good dessert recipes also. He especially likes the "Sunshine Orange Cake".

When my husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a friend gave us a copy of this wonderful cookbook. I have since had the oportunity to give a copy to another friend who was recently diagnosed with Type 2. What I love about the cookbook is the easy to follow recipes, ingredients that I have in the house, how each recipe has the carbos, fats, etc broken down and most of the recipes are delicious. I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone, whether they have diabetes or not.
