A synthesis of disparate cultures,
By A Customer
This review is from: New Dawn (Audio CD)
When I first played this album I heard familiar Africanrhythms but also something that sounded like Peking Opera! Sureenough the liner notes say the music was influenced by Chinese, Indian and Arabic styles. (I know the Emperor sent sailing expeditions to East Africa and the presence of the Indians and especially the Arabs in Africa is more well-known.) Good playing and singing. A world music find.
