Celine has such a sweet beauty about her and also seems to be living the sweet life. Her music weaves romantic spells that appeal to the heart and lift the spirit. With this CD, Celine declares she is alive, fulfilled as a mother, and "In love."

"When you call on me
When I hear you breathe
I get wings to fly
I feel that I'm alive."

There is an entire feeling of fantasy (shooting stars, moonlight) in this CD. From songs dripping with water images (storms, rain) to the lingering lyrics of the "Nature Boy" rendition, her music seems to embody deep longings of the heart, new beginnings and fulfilled desires.

I'm Alive - Almost a message to her fans saying..."I'm Back and Flying High!"

Right In Front Of You - Speaks of a heart that was in the dark, cold and lonely looking for love and the two lovers could not see what was right in front of them. "I had to fall to finally see that you were right in front of me." Celine seems to have lived some of these songs if you think of how she met her husband.

Have You Ever Been In Love - Deeply romantic, her voice soars.

Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable) - Funky, breezy song about not wanting to be an island.

A New Day Has Come - Soft, silky desires and fulfilled wishes.

Ten Days - Puts a bit O punch into this CD.

Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) - A song about accepting death. A child's love of a mother and an inevitable goodbye.

Prayer - Meaningful lyrics about the world losing her way and children being the hope.

I Surrender - Surrendering everything to feel the chance to live and love again.

At Last - Sexy, smooth and lucky in love.

Sorry For Love - Steps up the Tempo just when needed. Talks about forgiveness and not being perceptive to the needs of a lover, yet promising a better future.

Aun Existe Amor - Exquisite!

The Greatest Reward - Giving your heart to show your love.

When The Wrong One Loves You Right - You can't hide from love.

A New Day has Come - Mellow, with a sense of inner freedom.

Nature Boy - My favorite song on this album. You will recognize this from Moulin Rouge. It is smooth and almost exotic in the hands of Celine.

It seems Celine has found the greatest thing in this life. If you love Celine, you won't be disappointed. This album grows on you. Listen to it four times and then tell me you don't love it. The baby pictures are a bonus along with the page after page of lyrics spread across sunrise scenes. Sigh...she looks so happy! ;) She deserves to be.

The only word that I can use for this CD is WOW!, it's beautiful, all the songs are great, I can really say that the waiting time was worth it.
As soon as you play the CD, it starts with the the incredible "I'm alive", I think that this is Celine's best (it's really strange that didn't charted in the Hot 100, well I think that sometimes that's better because when a good song tops the charts it means that maybe you're gonna hate it because they play them to much).
The second song "Right in front of you" has a mix of great sound and beautiful lyrics, this one is followed by "Have you ever been in love" which is a romantic soft ballad, track #4 was written by Tina Turner's songwritter Terry Writting (What's love got to do with it), the song is "Rain, tax", after this song comes the great hit "A new day has come", what a wonderful song!, then comes "Ten days" actually this song it's a cover from a french singer (I don't remember his name) the song is powerful.

If you wanna dance you have track #11 "Sorry for love".
Really I can only say buy this album, it's a must have.
If you want to know more about this album, I can say that it sold 2 million copies only on its first week, now is certified in the US as Platinum x2, but I think that in no time it's gonna be Platinum x3.
It's really strange that Celine didn't get any Grammy nominations this year, but the album deserves at least 1 Grammy.

I have been waiting for what seems like forever for this album to come out so I had pretty high expectations for it. Let me tell you, it does not sound like any of her previous albums. As the self proclaimed "Celine's #1 fan", I was expecting heart wrenching ballads, but thats not what I got. What surprised me most on this album is that I was more impressed with the faster paced songs than the ballads. Although her voice is still amazing, the ballads didn't have the same punch as some of her others (such as My Heart Will Go On). The faster paced songs, on the other hand, are surprising and AWESOME. The album is a good mix of slow, mid and fast tempo songs. Some of the highlights are:
-I'm Alive
-Right in Front of You
-A New Day Has Come (the album version is slow, melodic and quite different than the one people are used to)
-Ten Days
-Goodbye's the Saddest Word (one of the better ballads on the album)
-At Last
-Sorry For Love (what a surprise! the vocals are incredible)

It's one of those albums you can listen the whole way through. Previous Celine fans will still be impressed, and people who may not have liked her before will be pleasantly surprised.

I was worried that Celine's comeback album wouldn't be as spectacular as the 1996 FALLING INTO YOU and LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE. But now I can say, having purchased the album, and having listened to it a good twenty times, that she couldn't have produced anything better....

Anyway, Celine has a variety of songs on here, ranging from some surprising pop ones to some more classics to her beautiful ballads. The album starts with I'M ALIVE, which is fresh, and has a 'make-you-wanna-dance' rhythm to it. Then there's RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, which starts out dark and swiches to a poppish sound, the one that Celine seems to give a mature and beautiful sound to. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE is a beautiful song, with some of the most beautiful lyrics. RAIN, TAX (IT'S INEVITABLE) is a more electric sound, which is new for Celine, but I really don't like it. It doesn't suit her. A NEW DAY HAS COME, which you've probably heard on the radio, is just a beautiful song which serves as the title of the album. I also like the original version, which is track 15. TEN DAYS is a leaving of Celine's regular style, but I think that this is a pretty OK song as well. GOODBYE'S (THE SADDEST WORD) is a beautiful ballad that actually can make you cry. PRAYER'S also a more Celine song, and I SURRENDER is one of my favorites, and a surefire Celine ballad, where her voice sounds beautiful. I didn't care for AT LAST that much, liking the original version better, but Celine's was all right. SORRY FOR LOVE is also beautiful, and I think it should be her next single, especially with those high notes at the end. AUN EXISTE AMOR is a Spanish song. It's probably my lack of Spanish that makes me skip this track, but it is rather pretty. THE GREATEST REWARD is a brief, but beautiful song, which seems made for Celine's voice. WHEN THE WRONG ONE LOVES YOU RIGHT is another pop song, but it's Celine pop, which means it's worth listening to. Skipping over A NEW DAY HAS COME (ALBUM VERSION), there's NATURE BOY. A lot of people said they liked the original better, but I liked Celine's much better. Her voice is just hauntingly beautiful.

I think that this album was a beautiful comeback for Celine. It also showed Celine's open-mindedness to all styles of music, which I think is really important. All in all, it's not one of those albums where you can say "I have the last one, I don't need this." I would definitely recommend buying it.

At first this album surprised and disapointed me--I really was hoping for heart-pounding ballads like "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", "Because You Loved Me", "Immortality", "Falling Into You"...but as I listened to the CD, I really learned to love the variety that "New Day" offers. While Celine shines on her usual ballads--"Have You Ever Been in Love", "Goodbye's The Saddest Word", and "I Surrender"--I love the variety of this CD, my favorite songs being the uptempto half-ballads "Right In Front of You", "A New Day Has Come", and "The Greatest Reward." I was also happy to hear how well she could pull off the dance pop songs "Sorry For Love" and "When the Wrong One Loves You Right," and the rock "Ten Days." Along with the playful, happy "I'm Alive," the un-Dionish, techno "Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable)", the mysterious half-sequal to "Where Is the Love" "Prayer", the jazz/blues "At Last" and "Nature Boy", and Spanish "Aun Existe Amor", fans of almost any genre should love "A New Day Has Come". This CD is like a sampler of everything Dion can do. It's especially amazing how she can pull off dance/pop with so much more emotion and spunk than Britney and all those others.

When I first heard Celine's new song "A New Day Has Come", I couldn't wait for the album to come out. I bought it the day it came out. The wait was worth it as I was not disappointed. Celine is my favorite singer and I'm glad she is back.

This album is different from others she has released in the past. Each album she has put out has been different. Celine has had the opportunity to record songs by different songwriters. Alot of critics have slammed Celine because she doesn't write her own material. I feel that singers who don't write their own songs are better off since they don't run the risk of having every song on an album sound the same.

This album is packed with ballads and catchy uptempo songs. My favorites are "I'm Alive"-a good start off song; "Right In Front Of You"-very catchy; both versions of "A New Day Has Come"; "Goodbye's the Saddest Word"-the tearjerker song, "I Surrender"-typical Celine ballad; "The Greatest Reward"-another ballad and "Sorry for Love"-the Cher-like dance tune.

Thank you, Celine, for including the collage of photos in the album booklet. Even though Celine was away from the spotlight for two years, her voice is as great as ever. It's nice to have her back in an industry that has been dominated by the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Here's to a great comeback album!

I came in with fairly high expectations for Dion's new CD, and was amazed that it was even better than her Grammy-winning Falling Into You album (which I had considered her very best until this one)!

The songs sound pretty different from her usual ballad style:

The 2 opening songs - "I'm Alive" and "Right in Front of You" - sound so refreshing that one feels like standing in front of an ocean and feeling the breeze. The melodies are catchy and upbeat. The same can be said of "A New Day Has Come" - both the slow and radio versions are wonderfully done.

The slow songs in the album are sheer beauty - just listen to "Have You Ever Been in Love" and "Goodbye".

My favorite though is the passionate "I Surrender" - it's so emotionally powerful that one day you'll hear this song and cry your eyes out!

"Sorry for Love" is another favorite of mine - a fast track showcasing Dion's absolutely amazing vocals!

And don't miss out on "Prayer" - a warm, unassuming song that'll grow on you.

Pretty much every single song in this album is highly listenable (I guess that's what happens when you have 1,000 songs written for you each year to choose from!!), and I've been listening to the whole CD again and again and again and again and again ... This CD is well worth the 2-year wait ...

Celine Dion is somewhat of an easy target for reviewers. Her music is built to satisfy the needs of the middle of the road pop adult contemparary audience. A New Day falls right in line with that however, It is a very flowing beautiful piece of work and that makes up for what it lacks in Edge. Celine is the last great pop diva to not lose her voice or fan base (Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey both have lost both voice and fan base and on personal notes respect from the media). The one thing that sets this apart from Let's Talk About Love and Falling into you is that Celine is not oversinging any of the songs she just kind of flows through them lending her voice when needed. The title track has an unplugged version which is my favioraite item on the album, also worth noting is I'm Alive I Surrender Right Here in Front of You When The Wrong One Loves You Right. At Last is a nice remake however i've been spiled by Christina Aguilara's version and Celine (even though she could) gives it no ummph also Nature Boy (which appears on Moulin Rouge with David Bowie instead of her at the mic) is kind of dragging as well but make no mistake this is a cd you can listen to from beggining to end with your baby (man or your child) I can say that this is definitely one of the years best and Celine is to be commended

Before her 2 year hiatus, Celine was known for her ballads. And boy were they fantastic! I mean she had hits with The Power of Love, Beauty and the Beast, and who could forget My Heart Will Go On? Well, Celine has moved on. Not to say that power ballads aren't present on 'A New Day Has Come'. Songs like 'Have You Ever Been In Love', 'The Greatest Reward' and, my personal favorite, 'I Surrender', all show Celine's fabulous talent for ballads! And they are wonderful! But Celine does something to throw some people off guard. She branched out, ladies and gentleman.

With her fresh CD after almost five years, Celine has hints of pop in her songs. To your relief, not Britney/bubble-gum pop, but good ole pop. The song that will make you get up and move is 'I'm Alive', and then moves right into the song 'Right In Front of You', another pop song. Bold move on Celine's part. Then you get a ballad (Have You Ever Been in Love). Celine does something totally unexpected then. Ever wondered what R&B would sound like, Celine style? Well then 'Rain, Tax' will let you know. It's not one of my favorites, but it's decent. Then you get to the refreshing new-age/pop song, that Celine chose as her first single. It is such a beautiful song, but I prefer the acoustic version (see below). Celine then takes another dash into the rock genre, in her song 'Ten Days'. I don't particularly like this song, but some might.

Then comes the string of pearls - my favorite three songs. 'Goodbye' is so beautiful! While some say it will make you cry, I'm not sure of that, but it will give you goosebumps. Then to 'Prayer'. Somehow or another, it seems as if Celine is trying to get a message across to the nation about the September 11th attacks. I may be wrong, but it is beautiful! My favorite song comes next - 'I Surrender'. If you like ballads, or if you hate them, you'll love this song. You have absolutely no choice but to. Gorgeous.

Then Celine graciously gives us a remake of Etta James' 'At Last'. Even though the song is breath taking, it seems a bit repetitive, redundant. Speaking of giving, Celine then goes into a dance song. Dance? Celine?!? Yes, it has been accomplished. It's very nice too. 'Sorry for Love' is bound to be a hit for Celine. Think you've had too many twists and turns? Not so. 'Aun Existe Amor' is next. Yes, that is Spanish. And Celine does great with this song!

Next is yet another ballad 'The Greatest Reward'. Only one phrase can sum it up for me - short and sweet. 'When the Wrong One Loves You Right' follows up. You may have seen the TV special with Celine, in which she sang this with Destiny's Child. However, much to my dismay, they were not on the CD. 'A New Day Has Come' is next. We've heard this already, right? #5? Kinda. This is the acoustic version I mentioned earlier. This is so fantasticly done, it'll make you hate the Radio version. It's so slow but so very relaxing! Then 'Nature Boy'. I don't know why, but I don't really enjoy this song that much. The lyrics are great, but it just seems very strange.

I hope this review has helped you buy this CD. Even though I may not love every song, there is not one song I would skip over! It is fantastic!

I just bought this cd 5 days ago, and it took a while to grow into me. well worth the wait is what this album is trying to say, and "leave the past behind, cuz a new day has come." she did an extremely unthinkable thing.(mixing different potions of music into 1 c.d. instead of getting all sappy, like on Lets talk about love). amazing.

1.I'm Alive: 95/100. a great opener to a deliciously different album. it's the theme song for Stuart Little 2.
2.Right in Front of You: 95/100. upbeat song that sounds kinda like "To Love You More".
3.Have You Ever Been in Love: 64/100. yuk! in my opinion, the worst on the c.d. you'll know why when you hear it.
4.Rain,Tax(It's Inevitable): 93/100. good r&b song. new celine style.
5.A New Day Has Come(Radio Remix): 105/100. the best on the cd! a moving and touching song.
6.Ten Days: 96/100. possibly the most differed of all celine songs. brilliant song.
7.Goodbye's(The Saddest Word): 100/100. second best on the cd. a poignant piece.

8.Prayer: 89/100. good, but not very moving to me.
9.I Surrender: 80/100. this ballad is so torchy, i can't give it a good rating. it wouldn't be something you would want to listen to right before you go to sleep.
10.At Last: 99/100. good remake on a classic song.
11.Sorry for Love: 100/100. third best on the cd, with techno influences.
12.Aun Existe Amore: 95/100. brilliant and moving.
13.The Greatest Reward: 97/100. the lyrics are amazing.
14.When the Wrong one Loves you right: 77/100. the only thing i like about this song is the oh-oh-oh-oh every so often.
15.A New Day Has Come: the original version of the classic.
16.Nature Boy: 85/100. a cover of the 1948 hit by Nat King Cole. not a bad ending, but not a great one either.

Average Album Rating: 92/100, 5 stars for celine!

With a cd like this, only a non celine fan wouldn't love it! although this is so, i wouldn't recommend this for newcomers. start with All The Way(A Decade of Song), or Unison. Both of those are suitable for newbies. ciao.
