Biography

“War is not the answer,” Wyclef Jean declares on “Code Red,” a riveting chronicle of a world in crisis that is just one of the highlights on the gripping new album that tellingly bears his name as its title. No one would disagree with the sentiment Wyclef articulates. But as a nation and as individuals do we behave as if we believe that war is not the answer? In Wyclef’s hands, the very simplicity… Read more in Amazon's Wyclef Jean Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Bonoman and Wyclef are not your everyday pop stars.........., November 2, 1999
By
Neil Barber (smnbarber@cs.com) (Charlotte, North Carolina, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Day (Audio CD)
They are sooo much more. They can sing. They can write music. They can play instruments. But more than that, these powerhouses of music use these talents to relate messages to the human soul whose surface is generally not scratched by the typical pop/rock/rap artist. Whether you are a Wireling, a Gen Xer, Gen Yer, or Baby Boomer, you can - and more importantly should - enjoy and appreciate this song and its collaborators. It is disappointing that radio and MTV are not more responsive to this type of music for the soul, but we can give it our vote by purchasing a copy for ourselves and everyone we know. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars teach 'em how to sing Bono....teach 'em, October 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: New Day (Audio CD)
this song is just so uplifting. in excellent blend of rap and pop. Bono's voice shines through, since he hasn't been seen since 'the sweetest thing'. and Wyclef has got the perfect story telling of being out in the streets and wars. once again...it's so uplifting, very optimistic and lovely. it's gotta be the best duet of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Single of the Year!!!!, September 16, 1999
This review is from: New Day (Audio CD)
The best song of the year by two of the greatest living songwriters. Wyclef Jean is an extremely underrated performer compared to Lauryn Hill. Buy it to help charity and for the song, uplifting and beautiful.
