The best computer I have ever owned period, August 30, 2008
This review is from: New Dell XPS M2010 Laptop - Intel Core 2 Duo = Blazing speed - 2x1.80 Ghz , Fast 4 Gb Ddr2 Memory RAM Best for Gaming , Large 120gb Hard Disk , Dvd+/-rw Burner Burn Dvd & Cd, Large 20.1" Screen with Remote + Wireless Keyboard + wireless Mouse On laptop (Personal Computers)
Maybe my title is misleading. I have easily had more powerful computers. However, this computer blows all of those away. I cannot think of a better computer to own. Here is why.
1. This is easily portable. It is heavy, but it can be carried from your house to your hotel or to another room easily.
2. The display is beautiful. It is glossy and everything looks fantastic on it.
3. It is fast. Fast enough. If this thing is not fast enough for you, you are timing it with a stopwatch and complaining about 2 or 3 seconds.
4. Take this thing to Vegas like I did and you feel like a rockstar. Imagine that. I just wanted to bring it to my room and everyone was pestering me. Everyone who sees it is impressed. Even the ladies were impressed believe it or not. You wouldn't think it would be gratifying to hear a gal say, "Wow, that is so big" in reference to your laptop - but strangely it is. It is even more gratifying to respond, "It is big. As a matter of fact, it is one of the biggest you will ever see" in that same strange way.
5. The graphics card can play most games at good resolutions with no problem. I only really concentrate on World of Warcraft and I set the settings high. Now I have another computer that has a 1900 x 1200 resolution and I set all the settings maxed out. On this one I do not max them out because it does slow my FPS down a bit (to around 12 or 13 which sucks) so I run it at 6x AA and 8x anisotropic and it gets 25 - 30 fps and look much better than my other computer. I think maybe it has to do with the glossy screen.
6. I love the remote control. I have this thing set up on the hope chest at the foot of our bed and we watch all our movies on this. When I start to fall asleep, I just switch off the sound with the remote. I know this seems like a minor deal but honestly - who wants to lift your torso up to hit the mute button on a keyboard when you are right about to drift into a slumber. It actually is a big deal.
7. Speakers are incredibly loud. Will fill a large room with sound easily.
8. Detachable keyboard is awesome. I have the keyboard 3 feet away from it while I lay on the bed and type this. Easier than a conventional laptop because this keyboard is more maneuverable than an entire laptop would be. Plus the keyboard has a built in mouse pad.
I know others have complained that the keyboard falls off when they try to put it on the bed. Don't put it on the bed. This is not a laptop as it is termed. It is a portable computer. The keyboard is the 'laptop' and will easily fit on your bed or in your lap - but the base needs a sturdy resting place. I have it set up on a box on our hope chest and I move the keyboard around.
I have also heard others complain that this is too big to lug around all the time. You are right. It is. It is a big pain in the butt. I know I said this is easily portable before, and it is. Compared to a desktop system and monitor this is cake. So I still say it is easily portable. However,I would not get this for an every day need to transport laptop. Get this if you need big real estate that is easily transportable if you need to transport it ONCE IN A WHILE. Otherwise stick with something smaller.

Stay away - worst system ever!!!! Piece of Junk!!!!, March 1, 2009
This review is from: New Dell XPS M2010 Laptop - Intel Core 2 Duo = Blazing speed - 2x1.80 Ghz , Fast 4 Gb Ddr2 Memory RAM Best for Gaming , Large 120gb Hard Disk , Dvd+/-rw Burner Burn Dvd & Cd, Large 20.1" Screen with Remote + Wireless Keyboard + wireless Mouse On laptop (Personal Computers)
I purchased this system when it first came out and paid over $4k for it. I figured that I would have this computer for a while and so I thought I could justify the cost of it. Well I only had it for less than a year when it first broke down. Dell tech came out and he could not figure out what was wrong with it and then damaged it further by smoking (literally) the system. Dell then in return sent out a brand new system with the specs the same as the previous system. Ok, well now another year into the system and guess what, yes the exact same problem. Dell tech came out and once again could not fix the system. Of course in this time period Dell stopped manufacturing these systems so now I need to rely on sending my system back in hopes that someone knows what is wrong and will fix it correctly. When this system is returned I will immediately place an online ad and sell this piece of junk!!! I purchased a Gateway $400.00 laptop the first time this thing died because my business info. was on it. My Gateway is wonderful!!!! When I got my second system from Dell, I left if plugged in on my desk for about a year and only used it maybe a dozen times and only to surf the internet before it died again. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM....STAY AWAY AND NEVER PUT YOUR TRUST OR MONEY IN A DELL PRODUCT.... I have learned my lesson! I give this system only a 1 star because it looks nice and because I had to give it some rating.

Remember Compaq luggables?, January 19, 2011
This review is from: New Dell XPS M2010 Laptop - Intel Core 2 Duo = Blazing speed - 2x1.80 Ghz , Fast 4 Gb Ddr2 Memory RAM Best for Gaming , Large 120gb Hard Disk , Dvd+/-rw Burner Burn Dvd & Cd, Large 20.1" Screen with Remote + Wireless Keyboard + wireless Mouse On laptop (Personal Computers)
This has the size that rivals the Compaq "luggable" computer of the 1980s! It's heavy, big. It's fully of high-end features for its time. 8 Speakers and glossy 20" display just turn heads. Excellent for marketing demos in business, and good enough as a gaming machine...again, for its time.
Two hard disk slots are very useful. Wireless keyboard and mouse can actually go good 60 feet at least (in a line of sight). Front loading DVD drive is also a unique feature.
The problem as of 2010 is the drivers for Windows 7. While it runs, there isn't custom drivers and software to take advantage of various features on this machine.
