2.0 out of 5 stars the new destroyer by warren murphy...and karl rove??
the new destroyer is here, and being written by the RNC it seems, never before in the long history of this series has the political postering been so blatent and heavy handed. it seems in the years that mr. mullaney was fired by gold eagle and the books were authored by a ghost not conservative enough for him, the liberal hate has stored up and is gushing forth in...

This review is from: The New Destroyer: Dead Reckoning (Destroyer #148) (Mass Market Paperback)
Remo battles terrorists who have a super bioweapon that may be more than Remo can deal with. In the meantime Chiun wants to take Remo and leave CURE and the US because of a mysterious supernatural figure who seems to be Death himself.

This latest edition of The Destroyer is another great adventure from the minds and processors of Jim Mullaney and Warren Murphy. These two know Remo and Chiun better than anyone and it certainly shows in Dead Reckoning. The satirical treatment of the anti-war sector harkens back to the early days of The Destroyer. The no-holds-barred action of Remo against the terrorists makes you wish we had a Remo to send after them for real. And the Remo-Chiun relationship, the thing that makes The Destroyer better than any of the other so called "men's adventure" books, is better than ever.

If you used to read The Destroyer but quit some time ago, you need to try again with this book. If you have never heard of Remo, then this is the book to read to get introduced. If you have always been a fan then you probably already have a copy, so go buy another one and give it somebody who needs a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars We found the WMD that wasnt in Iraq, August 13, 2008
This review is from: The New Destroyer: Dead Reckoning (Destroyer #148) (Mass Market Paperback)
Don't let the title fool you... this is not a mindless action paperback. The Destroyer series is a clever satire of pop culture & politics cleverly disguised as and action adventure book.

Very timely given world events, the plot moves along smartly, and the dialogues between characters is laugh out loud funny. Great read: easy to pick up, light reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Remo's Development, May 4, 2008
This review is from: The New Destroyer: Dead Reckoning (Destroyer #148) (Mass Market Paperback)
I like the new Direction that the series is taking and that Remo is getting more comfortable and developing more control over the power that his training has given to him plus the ennemy was a very interesting one to pit him against.

I read about the first 140 or so titles, then quit. When I saw this I decided to see how it was. THIS is the Destroyer I got hooked on. The great stuff is back!

Another fantastic addition to The New Destroyer series.
Mr.Murphy and Mr.Mullaney are writing at an incredible pace to bring us these wonderful tales of the reigning masters of sinanju. And yet the action, drama, story and laugh out loud humour (of which we have all come to expect) do not suffer in any way.
And considering what some lesser authors have done to the original Destroyer series it is great to see it back on top where it rightfully belongs.
Now if only Tor publications could get it into more bookshops a wider audience would be able to enjoy what is probably the best series of books ever written.

The only problem with the New Destroyer Series is that they aren't coming fast enough. This is a well written funny adventure and James Mullaney does a great job with Remo and Chiun. If you like adventure and you like to laugh, get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book, July 19, 2008
This review is from: The New Destroyer: Dead Reckoning (Destroyer #148) (Mass Market Paperback)
I cannot stress enough how much I enjoy the "New Destroyer" series since it is back in the hands of Mr. Murphy. I enjoy the political satire. I also like when they incorporate Harold Smith and Mark Howard. This is a great book and I hope Tor keeps them coming for years.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good solid Destroyer novel, January 1, 2010

This review is from: The New Destroyer: Dead Reckoning (Destroyer #148) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you are looking at this book the odds are very high that you are already familure with the series and the characters, so I won`t
go into the basics. Since Murphy and Mullaney took over writing the series again there has been a lot of improvement in the quality
of the books. And while Dead Reckoning may not live up to the glory days of the series, it`s still a good entertaining Remo and
Chuin story that`s well worth reading. Give it 4 stars.
The next one in the series, Killer Ratings, is even better. It`s a real 5 star story.
