one of the best albums i have heard this year, but it is a change compared to their previous work which was perfect.This album lacks Helena's vocals but Catherine did her part like a charm. As for the Male vocals there were many different changes but for the best(as i am more into black metal).Anyhow this is a must for any fan of the band.

This cd is VERY different from their debut. It is a very unusual transition. The vocals are much more black, instead of death, and the music is as well...but I REALLY like it a lot. I am in love with this type of music, and I think this is a great follow up. The new black metal influences flow VERY nicely in my opinion. And of course the new female vocals and clean male deserve much credit, it adds that beautiful contrast that makes this genre so compelling. This cd is kind of like Old Man's Child meets Dark Tranquillity....haha that was probably quite bold, but oh well! Anyhow, I like this cd a lot!

This is the best metal album ever made, black metal or not. Trail of Tears are technically classified as Black Metal and while it is true that this is a black metal album, it contains dynamics only found in the best of the best. Songwriting is concrete and the harsh and clean vocals are blended perfectly with an accent on female vocals (very popular in the Black Metal genre). If you are going to get into Black Metal or just want a really heavy, hard hitting metal album, get this one. If you are only accustomed to "plain" heavy metal such as Metallica, Judas Priest and so on, then the harsh/black metal vocals may be a little much for you, but interestingly enough they do not stand out as they do on a lot of black metal albums. This is the definition of metal in it's broad terms.
