"New Directions" book, not so new after all!, October 4, 2009
This review is from: New Directions in Metal Clay: Intermediate Techniques: Stone Setting, Enameling, Surface Design & More (A Lark Jewelry Book) (Paperback)
Attention people who already own Cece's book "New Directions in Metal Clay, 25 Creative Jewelry Projects", don't buy this book, its the same book! I guess I should have researched it more closely, since the title is the same, sort of...The original hardback has a different picture on the cover, and after the title says "25 Creative Jewelry Projects". This (new) paperback has a different picture on the cover, and says "Intermediate Techniques: Stone Setting, Enameling, Surface Design & More". Reading that, I thought it was a different book, and nowhere in the description did it mention that it was previously published under a different name. Not cool! Oh well, I'll give it away, rather than hassle with returning it, its not a bad book. With all the books on PMC now, and since this IS an "intermediate" book, I think they could have skipped the first 35 pages of the usual metal clay type descriptions and tools...but there are lots of photos of some good artists work, as well as some nice new ideas. Most of those don't have too much detail in terms of instructions, but overall, this is a good book for your metal clay library...I just wish I didn't buy it twice!

Buyer Beware, October 6, 2009
This review is from: New Directions in Metal Clay: Intermediate Techniques: Stone Setting, Enameling, Surface Design & More (A Lark Jewelry Book) (Paperback)
I was SO looking forward to the release of this "new" book and anxiously awaited the delivery. When it finally arrived and I reviewed the book I found I recognized each and every project. That is because it is the exact same book that was released in 2007. The only difference is the front cover picture and title are different and it has a softcover. Page by page I compared and it is the same book. Don't get me wrong....I love the book. I just didn't need two of them. It has lots of great projects and I have used the 2007 original hardcover book extensively so if you don't have that version, by all means, buy this book. I was just disappointed. I never thought about them re-releasing the book in soft cover to look like a new book. Oh well, it will make a nice Christmas gift for a friend that doesn't have it already.

same book, October 15, 2009
This review is from: New Directions in Metal Clay: Intermediate Techniques: Stone Setting, Enameling, Surface Design & More (A Lark Jewelry Book) (Paperback)
yup, this is the same book, now i own both, because the prepublication advertisement, book cover and title implied a new book, this is just the paperback of the hardback first addition. amazon screwed up here by not noticing or linking the hardback.
