Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

There are so many myths and misconceptions about day trading that it's no surprise that it has a bad name. In The New Electronic Traders, financial columnist Jonathan R. Aspatore interviews over a dozen very successful traders who cast new light on an industry gaining respectability and a new name: electronic direct access trading. The traders tell how they have mastered the markets, what it takes to get started, and how to avoid common mistakes. They describe how to research trades, control risk, and develop your own trading style. To a man, they say mastering your emotional responses and the development of discipline are essential keys to success. As one trader puts it, "Not having discipline is a recipe for absolute disaster. That is why you hear about so many day traders who lose their shirts." As each of the traders makes clear, in trading it's hard to do the right thing and easy to do the wrong thing, and there are so many more wrong things to do and so many things that can just go wrong.

The book clarifies the significant differences between online investing through a broker and trading with direct access to the markets. It provides insight into the evolution of electronic trading over the last decade, and gives a glimpse into the future of a hypergrowth industry still in its infancy. The traders' experiences and advice, strategies, shortcuts, and tips included here are invaluable to anyone who seeks to profit in today's markets, whatever the time horizon. --Scott Harrison

The new generation of stock traders have an enormous edge if they have excellent typing skills, intense concentration and the ability to memorize reams of data.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh spare me...this book is just plain awful..., April 9, 2000

This review is from: The New Electronic Traders: Understanding What It Takes to Make the Jump to Electronic Trading (Hardcover)
This book is a joke. From Omar Amanat to the entire list of clowns that day trade in this book, it is awful. Don't most of these guys work in the same office? So now what? Every day trading firm is going to get all their traders together and make an absolutely USELESS book? This book has no value to it whatsoever -- not even some trite 'ride your winners' phrases with some personal explanations. I would much rather recommend Strategies for the Online Day Trader by Gonzalez and Rhee which is an incredibly helpful book with REAL strategies. The only people making the JUMP here are the bozos that are quoted -- and they are jumping YOU for your money! Don't buy it, don't read it and don't waste your time on this one. I rate it -10 out of 5 stars. YECH!

1.0 out of 5 stars Chapter 8 was not helpful, February 8, 2000
This review is from: The New Electronic Traders: Understanding What It Takes to Make the Jump to Electronic Trading (Hardcover)
i found chapter 8 with kirk kazazian helpful is understanding how bloated egos day traders have. Kazazian 's trading is only slightly better than results achieved through random chance, with a much greater risk factor.
