beautiful, quality book!,

This review is from: The New England Butt'ry Shelf Cookbook (Mass Market Paperback)
If you love to snuggle up with a wonderful cookbook to read, buy this one! I've had this book for at least 10 years and I still pull it off the shelf to look at the wonderful illustrations by Tasha Tudor and read the interesting anecdotes. The book is divided into chapters, each reflecting a holiday or cherished event -- from Easter to New Year's Open House to Picnic by the River -- and opens with a short story on the family traditions so associated. I like it most because it is both modern and quaint at the same time. As for the recipes, I must admit I haven't tried very many...

A great cookbook and a great read,
This review is from: The New England Butt'ry Shelf Cookbook (Cook Book) (Hardcover)
I've had this cookbook "forever" and I simply adore it. The drawings are charming and the stories add such a nice dimension to the cookbook -- I love reading about holiday traditions whether it's a birthday party, Halloween, or Christmas. And the recipes are delicious and I've used them over and over again. It's a great reading book but it's also a great cookbook. The cutout cookies in the Christmas chapter has become our "go to" cut out cookies for any occasion. I have made almost every recipe in this book over the years and I have NEVER been disappointed. I have bought many as gifts, I've found it so charming. There are two other books by Ms. Campbell and they are equally as charming.
