Aryeh (London, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Found Glory - This Disaster: Live in London (DVD)
Ok, I think I'm one of the first people to review this who has actually seen the DVD, however, I have something extra - I was at the actual show as well - thank the Lord for multi-region DVD players. I

ts a shame this hasnt been released in the UK because it really brought back happy memories. The show was probably the best one I've ever been to and I've seen about twenty bands live.

The DVD captures the show brilliantly and excellently flies along at an exciting break neck speed like NFG's shows. The best bit of the DVD is obviously the part where it shows what happened when the power went out at The Forum when they played a seriously moving slow pianic version of My Friends Over You and I Don't Wanna Know. There is also a long picture gallery and about half an hours worth of hilarious behind the scenes footage. All in all there is over 3 hours of material here.

A MUST BUY FOR BOTH THOSE WHO WERE AT THE SHOW AND THOSE WHO WEREN'T!

4.0 out of 5 stars BUY IT!, November 2, 2004
This review is from: New Found Glory - This Disaster: Live in London (DVD)
I was actually at this show (yeh, we had to wait around for about 25 minutes while they fixed the power). The show had a great setlist, and NFG performed really well. Its everything you would have expected from a NFG show, and i think it would be great to own it on DVD.
i give it 4 stars, simply because to be 5 stars, it would need to be truly AMAZING.. this was just very very good, ie: 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was there, October 28, 2004
This review is from: New Found Glory - This Disaster: Live in London (DVD)
Hey i havent watched the dvd obviously as it hasnt been released yet but i can tell you this if the dvd is even half as hillarious as the concert was it'll be great. I was at that concert and it was the night they had the huge power cut on stage and if they have any sense they'll include the ballad style My Friends Over You with only vox and piano.
It was a truly amazing concert so im sure the dvd will be likewise, even if it did make us late for the last train home :)

This review is from: New Found Glory - This Disaster: Live in London (DVD)
I liked NFG before i bought this dvd. I LOVE THEM NOW! this version of Failures Not Flattering is 5X better than the original! The extra footage is great, especially what they do when the fuse blows. i was a little confused about the main menu though. It has "Live in London", then "play entire program", but they both show the same exact thing. my only other complaint is that its really quiet. i guess so you have to crank up your stereo when you watch it, but it still couldve been louder.

5.0 out of 5 stars They are Great Live, November 15, 2004
This review is from: New Found Glory - This Disaster: Live in London (DVD)
So I live in Colorado and I did not attend this concert, but I have seen New Found Glory live probably 5 or 6 times (most recently was Friday night when they opened for Green Day), I haven't yet missed a Colorado date, and I can promise you this DVD will be excellent. The guys in this band put forth a frenetic intensely entertaining live show. Their shows are peppered with the new single type songs (My Friends Over You, Head on Collision) as well as their older more raw punk songs, as well as the awesome Glory of Love cover.

Few bands could open before Green Day and hold their own. New Found Glory was able to do that Friday night, and they have been able to put out a great show every time I've seen them. I highly recommend this DVD to people who have and haven't seen them live because it is sure to be very rocking!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great disaster, February 14, 2005

This review is from: New Found Glory - This Disaster: Live in London (DVD)
I've been a fan of NFG since 2003 I guess. It all started when I almost accidently downloaded My Friends Over You off of Sticks & Stones and the whole album a bit later. As I have been listening to their stuff constantly since then, you can imagine how badly i have waited for this DVD to come out.

I must apologize because I downloaded the DVD, but it's a common thing around where I come from. I don't have money to buy their music but at least I am a true fan and have downloaded almost everything that's out there.

Ok, to the DVD now.
It starts with Truth Of My Youth - a very quick and powerful song full of energy. Throughout the whole show they won't slow down. It's amazing how the guys (Chad and Steve and Ian) rock so fast jumping around but still they play their guitars almost perfectly. If you pay attention you notice how they switch their guitars between songs (they probably have different tunings) - it's very cool in my opinion.
Jordan's voice is amazing. There are many people out there who say NFG sucks, because Jordan can't sing and he has a whining voice that sucks. But his voice is exactly what attracted me. It sounds great and Jordan is a very good singer. If you don't believe me, ask someone professional.
I also like Chad's singing. He is a good singer too and i especially like how he drives people along to rock with him.

Of course, a cool thing to watch is how the power goes out and comes back later. Thanks to this accident we can now enjoy the most beautiful song on Earth - My Friends Over You piano version, a slow and beautiful song. They also played I Don't Wanna Know acoustic.

One more thing, the crowd is amazing. It's cool how they sing along loudly, parts anyway.

To a New Found Glory fan this DVD is a must-have, I think. And all the others... check it out and decide for yourself.

I enjoy NFG because:
1) Their music is very professional (especially vocal-arrangements).
2) Their lyric are emotional and mostly about love. I like that.
3) They make music no one else makes. They have their own style thanks to Jordan's voice, Steve's lyrics, Chad's guitar-riffs and so on.

To sum up, I would say this DVD rocks over an hour and makes you wanna go and see them live. At least I couldn't keep my foot still. And hey, what's 'hagus'???
