5.0 out of 5 stars Much older than '95, January 19, 2003

This is an unbelievable album. Old school hip hop meets metal samples! Bang your head to this. FYI---I had a cassette copy of this album (long since lost or eaten), recommended by a friend (good call Rick), at least as early as 1991. Which I think makes it even more ahead of its time. Wouldn't mind having it on cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic to be..., December 16, 2002

These fellas help to put SAMOA on the hip-hop map! Creating a style all their own, Boo-Yaa represents a new flavor of West Side, funk-infused hip-hop that was definitely ahead of its time. If you enjoy the classic 808 bass lines of 80's rap you'll be pleased to find it here. RID commands the mic, with great back up from the others. The opening track is perhaps the strongest of all with RID declaring what Boo-Yaa is all about. "Walk the Line" provides that great old-school family picnic jam. All of the other tracks hoist strengths of their own. All in all, if you're looking for something different from the cookie cut-out hip-hop that commands the radio stations in our day, this album will serve you with what you need!

5.0 out of 5 stars BOO YAA!!!, September 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: New Funky Nation (Audio CD)
Well, I dont agree with the review that I previously read but these Hamos can jam. 6 brothers who learned the hard way that selling drugs and gangbanging aint the way to live. They paint vivid scenes with the backdrop of old school funk. Makes me want an afro, bellbottoms and platforms. The New Funky Nation album makes the rump bump ; ). Check out their other albums too! Although they are not quite the same they are great albums to listen to all the same!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a hot album!, August 14, 2003

For anyone who loves that West Coast Cali flavor, you have to buy this one. Finally some bloods from LA put it down like they were supposed to. The production over most of the album shocked me. It was hot from start to finish. Some of it starts to get a little repetitive at times but then they hit you with another hot ass track. If you want real gangsta music from real LA gangstas, then this is a must have.

I believe this cd was released way before its time, the beats and the rap flow all work perfectle together to give it that G flow. This group is to talent and needs to come out with more...

This review is from: New Funky Nation (Audio CD)
I had this album a long time ago and had all of my cd's stolen from me (over 500) out of a storage shed. This is one of the few I am actually going to replace. Thanks BOOYAA for the good jams!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boo Yaa..., January 5, 2006
This review is from: New Funky Nation (Audio CD)
Boo Yaa were the First Samoans to make it big in the rap industry. The New Funky Nation is a great album that has great lyrics. Their lyrics touched everythang from Gangsta Lifestyle to club banging. I have this cd and am proud to still bump it. I am proud of how they put 684 and Carson on the map. Anyways, a must have CD and also I recommend you purchase thier other CDs to.
