I remember purchasing this album on vinyl back in 1986 or '87? I've enjoyed listening to it for the past 25 years along with On The Boulevard, and Friday Night In America. If you want to hear some samples, just listen to the first five tracks on the single CD, The Best Of New Grass Revival. With this release the band was going for a bit more of a commercial approach with short, catchy tunes and drums on some tracks. At the same time, the music is as challenging as ever. Pat Flynn contributed several great songs, and Sam Bush plays some great fiddle on a number of tunes. I recommend skipping the best of release, and picking up the individual CDs. It'll cost you a little more in the short term, but you'll be rewarded with years of enjoyable listening. And in addition, two of my favorite tracks were left off the Best Of collection. They include the opener, What You Do To Me, and a crack performance of the Marvin Gaye soul number, Ain't That Peculiar.

In my opinion, all of the studio recordings by this incarnation of the band are well worth acquiring. There are very few weak songs, and the performances are inspired for the most part. If you still crave more, you can go back and check out the earlier band on the superb two-fer CD, Fly Through The Country/When The Storm Is Over. This one should not be passed up. It's loaded with great music and performances.
